FIGHT COVID 19 ---- GET VACCINATED
Pakistan having begun its Covid-19 vaccinations, a mass awareness program about the need, efficacy and safety of the vaccines is critical. Even in these early days, there has been some confusion regarding COVID 19 vaccines.
Vaccines are one of the most effective tools to control the COVID-19 pandemic. They are a safe and effective way to protect the health and wellbeing of society. Vaccines stimulate the body to build resistance to infection and also strengthen the immune system by training it to form antibodies to fight the virus that causes COVID-19.
These vaccines may differ in technology but all of them do the same work in raising the body’s immune system.
Have faith that all vaccines are subject to adequate testing and go through several stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials before they are approved for use.
General Tips after taking the vaccine:
Be aware of any side effects.
Comply with the instructions issued by your doctor.
Make sure you do not skip or delay your appointment for the second dose of the vaccination.

Reported side effects to COVID-19 vaccines have mostly been mild to moderate and short-lasting. They include:
• fever
• fatigue
• headache
• muscle pain
• chills
• diarrhea
• pain at the injection site

More serious or long-lasting side effects to vaccines are possible but extremely rare.

What to do if there are side effects:
Take a Paracetamol when you experience mild and moderate side effects.
Use a cold compress to relieve pain at the injection site.
If you have mild and moderate symptoms that persist for longer or severe symptoms head to the nearest health center or hospital.

We are now witnessing the third wave of the deadly coronavirus, which is more contagious and deadlier than the first two waves. Unfortunately, people are becoming careless in observing social distancing and other precautionary measures. The reality is that fighting such a deadly pandemic is a collective responsibility where people must do their part.
No policy or strategy adopted by the government can be successful without the cooperation and support of the masses. Coronavirus is not only a threat to human lives but also to the economies of affected countries. It is therefore incumbent upon the masses to observe the SOPs, which are simple but very effective:
People must wear masks which act as a protective wall against contracting the virus. As an individual, one can lower one’s risk of infection by reducing the rate of contact with other people. Avoiding public spaces and unnecessary social activities, especially events with large numbers of people or crowds will lower the chance of exposure to the coronavirus as well as to other infectious diseases like flu. Washing hands repeatedly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer also helps in keeping the virus at bay. Similarly avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness is also an imperative. Coughing and sneezing etiquettes also makes great and effective difference in checking the spread of the virus. These are the things which individuals can do without much hassle and cost. There is only the need to regulate lives in conformity with the demand of the situation till the time the entire population gets vaccinated against the virus. People must take the issue seriously and abandon their carefree attitude in their own and the country’s interest.
