Why HbA1c?
*HbA1c* (Hemoglobin A1c) is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar (glucose) level over the past 2 to 3 months. Unlike regular blood sugar tests, which can be influenced by your sugar intake just before the test, *HbA1c* gives a broader view of how well your blood sugar has been controlled over a longer period.

*Why is HbA1c important?*
- *Diabetes Diagnosis:* If your HbA1c level is 6.5% or higher, it indicates diabetes. A level between 5.7% to 6.4% suggests you have prediabetes, which means you are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

- *Diabetes Control:* For people with diabetes, maintaining an HbA1c level of 7% or below is usually recommended to avoid complications like heart disease, kidney damage, or nerve damage.

- *Prevention and Monitoring:* Regular HbA1c tests help monitor how well diabetes is being managed and allow doctors to adjust treatments to keep blood sugar levels in a safe range.

*Normal HbA1c Levels:*
- *Normal:* Below 5.7%
- *Prediabetes:* 5.7% to 6.4%
- *Diabetes:* 6.5% or higher

HbA1c کیا ہے؟

*HbA1c* خون میں *شوگر* کے طویل المدت سطح کو جانچنے کا ایک طریقہ ہے۔ یہ ٹیسٹ آپ کے خون میں *گلوکوز* (شوگر) کی سطح کو پچھلے 2-3 مہینوں کے دوران اوسطاً دکھاتا ہے۔

اگر آپ کو *شوگر* (ذیابیطس) ہے، تو اس ٹیسٹ سے آپ کی شوگر کی سطح کا پتا چلتا ہے اور یہ بھی معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ آپ کی *ذیابیطس* کتنی کنٹرول میں ہے۔

*HbA1c* کا معمولی سطح *5.7% یا اس سے کم* ہوتا ہے، جب کہ *6.5% یا اس سے زیادہ* ذیابیطس کی علامات کی طرف اشارہ کرتا ہے۔

*کیوں ضروری ہے؟*
- *HbA1c* ٹیسٹ سے آپ کو یہ پتا چلتا ہے کہ آپ کا جسم *شوگر* کو کتنی اچھی طرح کنٹرول کر رہا ہے۔
- یہ ٹیسٹ سال میں ایک یا دو بار کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ آپ کی *ذیابیطس* کی حالت کا پتہ چل سکے۔

*HbA1c* کی سطح جتنی کم ہوگی، اتنی ہی زیادہ آپ کی صحت بہتر ہوگی اور ذیابیطس کے مسائل کم ہوں گے۔
