ون ہیلتھ – صحت کے نئے پروگرام کا آغاز

ون ہیلتھ” (One Health) کو اب دنیا بھر میں ایک سرکاری اور پالیسی سطح کا ماڈل تسلیم کیا جا چکا ہے۔

• عالمی ادارہ صحت (WHO)، عالمی ادارہ برائے جانوروں کی صحت (WOAH)، خوراک و زراعت کی تنظیم (FAO) اور اقوامِ متحدہ کا ماحولیاتی پروگرام (UNEP) – سب نے مل کر اسے ایک مشترکہ عالمی فریم ورک کے طور پر اختیار کیا ہے۔

• پاکستان میں بھی ہیلتھ سروسز اکیڈمی (HSA)، وزارتِ صحت اور دیگر ادارے اسے اپنی پالیسیوں میں شامل کر رہے ہیں

انسانی صحت صرف ہسپتال یا ڈاکٹر کے نسخے سے وابستہ نہیں۔ ہماری زمین، پودے، جانور، پانی اور فضاء سب ہماری صحت کے ساتھ جڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

یہی سوچ ون ہیلتھ (One Health) کہلاتی ہے۔

ون ہیلتھ کا مطلب ہے کہ:
• اگر ہمارے کھانے پینے کی اشیاء صاف ہوں تو بیماریاں کم ہوں گی۔
• اگر جانور صحت مند رہیں گے تو وبائیں نہیں پھیلیں گی۔
• اگر ماحول اور پانی محفوظ ہوگا تو ہماری آنے والی نسلیں بھی محفوظ رہیں گی۔

اسلام آباد میں اسی حوالے سے ایک اہم ملاقات ہوئی جہاں ہیلتھ سروسز اکیڈمی (HSA) کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر شہزاد علی خان، نے اس پر کام کا آغاز کیا

ڈاکٹر طارق اور ایڈیشنل کمشنر اسلام آباد محترمہ بشریٰ اقبال راؤ نے اس نئے ماڈل پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ ان کا مقصد یہ ہے کہ انسانی صحت کو صرف علاج تک محدود نہ رکھا جائے بلکہ ماحول اور جانوروں کی صحت کو بھی ساتھ لے کر چلا جائے۔

یہ سوچ ہمارے معاشرے کے لیے نئی نہیں بلکہ ہماری پرانی روایات اور دینِ اسلام بھی صفائی، خوراک اور فطرت کے احترام کو انسانی صحت کا حصہ مانتے ہیں۔

ہم سب مل کر یہ عہد کریں کہ اپنی اور اپنی نسلوں کی صحت کے لیے زمین، پانی اور فضا کی حفاظت کریں۔
کیونکہ انسان، جانور اور ماحول – تینوں ایک ہی زنجیر کی کڑیاں ہیں۔

🌍✨ Strengthening One Health in Islamabad ✨

On 28th August 2025, I had the distinct honor of meeting Mrs. Bushra Iqbal Rao, Additional Commissioner Islamabad, along with her dedicated team at the Office of Commissioner ICT.

During our discussion, I presented the vision of the One Health Workforce Development & Coordination Towards Pandemic Readiness Project, being implemented by the Health Services Academy (HSA) under the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination.

💡 This ambitious project aspires to make Islamabad a model city by establishing a comprehensive disease surveillance system that integrates human, animal, and environmental health. By fostering cross-sectoral collaboration, strengthening workforce development, and delivering capacity-building programs, we are preparing for a future where epidemics and pandemics are met with readiness, resilience, and unity.

✨Mrs. Bushra Iqbal Rao’s appreciation and wholehearted commitment to support this initiative reaffirm the vital role of intersectoral coordination in protecting public health, livestock, the environment, and wildlife from future outbreaks.

From Struggle to Strength — The Inspiring Leadership of Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan

There was a time when the Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad struggled even to pay salaries to its employees. Survival seemed uncertain, and the institution was on the verge of collapse.

Then came a leader with vision, resilience, and dedication — Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA. With his remarkable leadership, he transformed HSA from a struggling entity into a thriving, autonomous, and globally recognized institution of public health.

🚀 His Transformational Contributions:
• Elevated HSA to become Pakistan’s first independent degree-awarding institute in Public Health.
• Expanded academic programs including MSPH, PhD, BS, and Postgraduate Diplomas — bridging critical gaps in Pakistan’s health education.
• Strengthened international collaborations with WHO, World Bank, USAID, and other global partners, bringing financial stability and recognition to the Academy.
• Authored and co-authored 150+ research publications, shaping national health policy and inspiring future public health leaders.
• Provided strategic leadership that placed HSA on the map as a center of excellence in research, training, and health systems development.

✨ Today, under his leadership, HSA is not just an academy — it is a symbol of resilience, growth, and hope for the future of public health in Pakistan.
