Diabetes also known as Diabetes mellitus is a common, chronic (life-long) medical condition or a Disorder that happens when there is a persistent increase in the blood sugar(glucose) which affects how the body processes glucose and carbohydrates. It's Due to insufficient or Absent production of the hormone (insulin) by the pancreas. Further studies review that: it's the pancreas that secretes insulin into the blood stream, after which, the insulin enable sugar to enters into the cells to lower the amount of sugar in the blood stream.Once the insulin is absent, or resist, it causes an increase or high blood level of Sugar.
There are two main types of Diabetes.
* TYPE 1 (Insulin Dependant); is believed to involve genetic and environmental factors
* TYPE 2 ( Non Insulin Dependent); Strongly associated with Obesity, physical inactivity and genetic.
The Following are also the Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes Disease:
- extreme or increase hunger even after eating
- increase thirst and dry Mouth
- skin itchy
- frequent urination especially at night
- numbness and tingling especially in the feet and hands
- red, swollen, tender gum
- blurred vision
- unexplained weight loss
- fatigue
- Irritability
- frequent infections and slow healing of wound and sore.
The following includes steps to prevent the risk of Diabetes Disease
Preventions:
1. Reduce all carbohydrates intake.
2. Eat foods rich and high in vitamin D or take supplements.
3. Reduce or Avoid all processed foods
4. Choose a high fiber diet.
5. Avoid eating too much food at one a go.
6. Quit smoking.
7. Avoid excess body weight
8. Take water at every opportunity
9. Exercise regularly
10. Avoid sitting too long in a place
11. Avoid Alcohol consumption.
12. Manage stress
13. Get adequate sleep.
The Management and Treatment of Diabetes Disease:
It's a complex condition, which is highly managed individually. The following should be strictly considered.
- Visit and Talk to a Doctor to check your blood sugar level.
- An investigation of Blood Sugar Test will be done, If suspected for any abnormal lncrease :
- An Oral diabetes medication as well as insulin injection will be given as required
- A consistent blood sugar monitoring will be carrying out to determine the current treatment plan.
- Health Education and enlightenment will be given to ensure a quality care on current health issue.
- Nutritional management for healthy diet and meal planning will commence.
- Physical Activity such( Walking, Jogging,Running, Hiking, Bicycling) at least 30 min daily should be done.
- Extra Hygiene for teeth and feet
- Take all Medication as Ordered and advised.
NOTE WELL: Diabetes can be life threatening, but it's so good to tell you that you can a live healthy life with Diabetes, if you ensure all Medical instructions. Untreated high blood Sugar shorten lifespan and worsen quality life.
