⚠️⚠️Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday announced that — as a precautionary measure — prospective passengers on its flights will be pre-screened for coronavirus at the Beijing Airport.⚠️⚠️

The respiratory virus has claimed 17 lives since emerging from a seafood and animal market in Wuhan, infected hundreds of other people nationwide and been detected as far away as the United States.

Thermal scanners have been installed at four major airports within Pakistan as well. The scanners — installed at airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar — are intended to scan passengers arriving at international terminals.

Every passenger arriving in Pakistan from China will have to undergo screening process at health counters established at airports by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Passenger found infected with virus will initially be taken to a isolated/quarantine room at the airport and later to a government hospital. Infected passengers can be quarantined for up to fourteen days.

CORONA VIRUS
Information and recommendations

Wuhan is a coronavirus. No - it is not a virus sitting on the beach drinking a Corona (though I would love to see this). What is special about coronaviruses is they usually don't make healthy people sick. SARS and MERS are two which have and now we must add Wuhan to the club as well. They are not airborne and fly out aimlessly looking for their next prey.
So what do you need to know to prepare and protect yourself?

Wuhan is spread via droplet transmission. This means it can be on surfaces - which you touch with your hands. If you touch your mouth or eyes and you have it on your hands - you can get sick. Again, this is typical of almost any virus or bacterial infection which is spread via droplet transmission.
The good news is that Wuhan is easily inactivated. It is surrounded by an envelop which basic detergents can destroy - not allowing it to enter a human cell. This is good news because we can easily inactivate Wuhan if we come in contact with it. It is not like Cholera or Crypto - both very hard to inactivate.
People are usually most infectious when they are the sickest. This is another bit of good news - because unlike influenza (where you may be contagious 24 hours before you show symptoms) - this virus usually puts you in bed before it gets really infectious.
So what do you need to do to prepare and protect yourself?

Wash your hands with soap and water frequently.
Sanitize your hands when you cannot wash them.
Practice social distancing - meaning be aware of the spacing between you and others.
Exercise and drink plenty of fluids.
If you are traveling, pay attention to what and where the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is saying.
Be vigilant - Wuhan is not the only infectious disease we face today. Every behavior mentioned above is something which should be a habit - not just for Wuhan but for other threats as well.
It is important to know the threat we are facing and respond in a way which decreases the liklihood of disease.
You have more control than you think. Let the Wuhan Virus be the reason you practice good habits today. The one thing I do know for sure is more diseases are coming - and if you practice these behaviors today - you will be more prepared for tomorrow
