APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (ABA) SUMMER COURSE

The Department of Behavioral Sciences arranged this intensive summer course that provides theoretical and practical training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), an evidence-based approach used to support individuals with additional needs, particularly neurodivergent individuals. Under the guidance of Mrs. Sabeen Bilal (BCBA, IBA), participants will gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in ABA principles, interventions, and real-life applications. Upon completion, students can sit for the IBT Certification Test (IBAO).

Dr. Zafar Mahmood, Principal School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H) has inaugurated NUST Behavioural Sciences Lab on 12 December 2024. Dr. Siddrah Irfan has established NUST Behavioural Sciences Lab at SINES (School of Interdisciplinary Engineering & Sciences). The Co-Principal Investigators of this lab are Dr. Sahar Nadeem Hamid and Dr. Sitwat Usman Langrial. This lab is a space dedicated to conduct research on understanding human behaviors from multidiscipline and multiple perspectives, organizing trainings and workshops on research (Research Methods and Softwares) related topics, stress management and mental health. This lab will also provide facility for the initial assessment of mental health and career counselling. It will conduct groundbreaking research, analyze data, and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems by collaborating with other disciplines and industry.

Ms Nadia Jahan, our esteemed faculty from the Department of Behavioral Sciences, at School of Social Sciences & Humanities (S3H), delivered a lecture on "Ethical Issues in Counselling Practices" at the Pak-Austria Fachhhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. She highlighted the importance of professional ethics and codes of conduct, using case studies to prevent ethical dilemmas in counseling practice.

The Department of Behavioral Sciences is thrilled to spotlight Iqra Ali Mirza from the BS Psychology Class of 2020 for securing a fully funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for a Joint Master's Degree in Clinical Neuroscience. This prestigious program, spanning the University of Groningen, Ghent University, and the University of Eastern Finland, focuses on cutting-edge areas like neuroimaging and language disorders.

Currently, Iqra is enriching her research experience as an intern at the University of Oxford's Department of Education. Her diverse background includes roles at Molped, with UNICEF, and as a Millennium Fellow at the UN, where she was the only Asian spotlighted for advancing SDG-3. Additionally, her leadership shone through as a Campus Leader at Teach For Pakistan and during her participation in the 'Women2Women International Leadership Program' funded by the US Department of State.

🌟 Meet the Team Series: Ms. Gulmeena Tahir 🌟
Introducing Gulmeena Tahir, a dynamic Lecturer in the Department of Behavioural Sciences at
the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. A NUST alumna with
an MS in Clinical Psychology, Gulmeena combines her passion for teaching with extensive
experience in clinical psychology and community engagement.
Her professional contributions include developing undergraduate courses, leading the mental
health initiative “Rawan” for Dhok Hassu's community, and playing a pivotal role in establishing
the DBS Telecounseling Service. As Clinical Internship Manager, she oversees MS students'
clinical internships, ensuring quality and efficacy.
Gulmeena is also active in professional development, currently pursuing the CHPE Certification
and contributing to the HESSA online course development project. She has participated in
various workshops and training programs in grief counseling, su***de prevention, and Islamic
psychotherapy, reflecting her diverse interests in community-based research and sustainable
development.
Ms. Gulmeena Tahir, fluent in multiple languages, combines her academic expertise with a
passion for arts and crafts. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes a practical, inclusive approach,
