IACLE Webinar Session:

The Department of Optometry & Orthoptics, FRAHS, Riphah International University Islamabad, hosted an insightful international IACLE Webinar Session for Senior semester students.

The conducting of session was collaborated by esteemed IACLE member, Dr.Laraib Umer (HOD O& O) and it was managed by Ms. Maimoona Rehmat (Senior Lecturer O&O).
The session provided faculty and students with valuable knowledge in the field of contact lenses, strengthening their understanding of global standards and practices.

An orientation session for our 1st semester students was successfully conducted, focusing on student exchange, online credit-hour programs, and international scholarship opportunities. 🎓✨

The session introduced students to the pathways of global learning and academic mobility, inspiring them to broaden their vision from the very beginning of their academic journey.

Free Eye Screening Camp – Station 3

The Department of Optometry & Orthoptics, Riphah International University (FRAHS, Islamabad), in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, Railway Hospital, proudly organized a Free Eye Screening Camp at Station 3.

📍 Location: High School
Camp Date: April 29, 2025

Our dedicated 6th semester students actively conducted vision screenings and basic eye health assessments for school children, playing a vital role in the early detection of vision problems and promoting eye health awareness within the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our hardworking 6th semester students for their enthusiasm and service. Special thanks to Dr. Aneequllah Baig (Head, Department of Ophthalmology, Railway Hospital) and Dr. Laraib Umer (Head, Department of Optometry & Orthoptics, FRAHS) for their continuous guidance and support in making this initiative a success.

An insightful International Webinar on the theme "The Future Horizons of Eye Care in the Era of AI" was successfully organized by the department of Optometry and Orthoptics,FRAHS , bringing together experts and professionals to discuss the evolving role of technology in optometry.

We were honored to host Ms. Kalsoom Rani, an esteemed optometry professional as the guest speaker. She holds a BSc. Hons (Optometry & Orthoptics), MPhil (Optometry), and a Fellowship in Optometry. She is also a Certified Myopia Management Specialist (Australia) and currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Senior Optometrist at Northwest Clinic, Dubai, while also volunteering at Pakistan Medical Center, Dubai.Her valuable insights highlighted the transformative impact of AI in modern optometry. The event was further enriched by the presence of Professor Dr. Arshad Nawaz Malik, Principal of FRAHS, who emphasized the importance of technological integration in advancing eye care practices.

This webinar provided an engaging platform for students, faculty, and professionals to discuss AI-driven innovations, the future of optometry, and the role of emerging technologies in vision sciences.

Awareness Campaign, World Optometry Week 2025
The Department of Optometry and Orthoptics,FRAHS, Riphah International University, successfully conducted an awareness campaign on Computer Vision Syndrome in observance of World Optometry Week 2025.

The campaign was organized across various departments of Riphah International University, Pakistan Railway Hospital, and Riphah International Hospital, targeting faculty, staff, students, and patients to enhance awareness regarding the causes, symptoms, and management of Computer Vision Syndrome.
This initiative aimed to emphasize the importance of eye health, educate individuals on preventive measures, and encourage proactive management of this prevalent ocular condition.
