This World Hepatitis Day, we stand with the global message “Let’s Break It Up” -breaking the silence, stigma, and access barriers that keep people from getting screened and treated for Hepatitis B and C.

Hepatitis doesn’t always show symptoms early, but left untreated, it can cause serious liver damage, even cancer.

In this message, Prof. Muzaffar Latif Gill shares why screening matters, how World Health Organization- Pakistan (WHO) is leading the global effort, and what we can do right here in Pakistan to change the future.

We urge you to get screened. Early diagnosis saves lives, and together, we can move closer to a Hepatitis-Free Pakistan.

On July 17, Getz Pharma hosted a symposium in Islamabad where our very own Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Latif Gill spoke about the clinical and public health implications of the global shift from NAFLD to MASLD.

This brief video captures key moments from the event, from the warm welcomes to the passionate call for better metabolic care in liver disease.

Did you know that colorectal polyps can silently grow inside your colon, without any symptoms?

Most of the time, these are harmless. But some polyps can turn cancerous if left untreated.

That’s where polypectomy comes in -a simple, safe procedure performed during a colonoscopy to remove these growths before they cause harm.

At IGA, Dr. Muzaffar Latif Gill performs polypectomies with expert care and precision. It’s a minimally invasive way to prevent bigger health problems down the line.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Get checked, especially if you're over 45 or have a family history of colon issues.

Did you know your genes can affect how well your body fights Hepatitis C?

Back in 2015, Dr. Muzaffar Latif Gill was part of a research team that studied how certain genetic traits (called IL28B polymorphisms) affect the success rate of Hepatitis C treatment in Pakistan.

They discovered that patients with certain genetic profiles had a much higher chance of fully responding to treatment, meaning their bodies cleared the virus more effectively.

This study helped doctors better understand which patients are more likely to benefit from standard Hepatitis C therapy using interferon and ribavirin.

HCV-infected patients carrying homozygous C/C have a higher chance of SVR. In addition, patients who carry T/T (rs8099917) have a higher chance of RVR.

As we grow older, our digestive system becomes more sensitive to stress, diet, and certain medications. But the good news? Many gastric problems are preventable.
Here are three steps our gastroenterologists recommend:

🍎 Choose gut-friendly foods
Eat more fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These help regulate digestion and reduce acid buildup.

🏃‍♂️ Stay physically active
Even moderate daily exercise supports gut motility and lowers inflammation throughout the body.

💊 Review your medications with a doctor
Common painkillers, certain antibiotics, and other medications may cause gastric irritation or ulcers over time. Always check with your physician if you're unsure.

If you're experiencing heartburn, abdominal pain, or unexplained bloating, don’t wait.
Our expert team at IGA is here to support your gut health.

Pancreatitis is the inflammation of the pancreas, a vital organ that helps digest food and regulate blood sugar. This condition can be acute (sudden and severe) or chronic (long-lasting), and both forms require medical attention.

Common symptoms include:
✔️ Severe upper abdominal pain that may radiate to the back
✔️ Nausea and vomiting
✔️ Fever
✔️ Rapid pulse
✔️ Swollen or tender abdomen

If left untreated, pancreatitis can lead to serious complications like infection, pancreatic necrosis, diabetes, or even life-threatening organ failure.

Diagnosis often involves:
🧪 Blood tests to check enzyme levels
🖥️ Imaging such as CT scan, MRI, or ultrasound

Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly reduce risks and support long-term digestive and metabolic health.

Did you know that Hepatitis C can stay silent for years before showing any signs, but silently cause serious damage?

Chronic HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) is a slow-moving infection that can quietly harm your liver and other organs if left untreated.

Here are five key complications untreated HCV can lead to:
🟢 Progressive liver damage and cirrhosis
🟢 Vascular and blood disorders
🟢 Joint and muscle pain
🟢 Kidney issues
🟢 Increased cancer risk

The good news? HCV is curable, especially when diagnosed early. At IGA, our team specializes in early detection and personalized treatment to help you stay ahead of complications and protect your long-term health.

Diverticulosis is a common condition that affects the colon, particularly as we age. While it’s often symptom-free, if left untreated, it can progress to diverticulitis, a painful and potentially serious complication.

Dr. Muzaffar Latif Gill explains the difference between these two conditions, the symptoms to watch for (like abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits), and how to prevent flare-ups.
