Incharge PIMA Women Self Care Dr. Farhana Masood and Dr. Sidra conducted an interactive session on a healthy lifestyle on December 24th at Arqam Islamic Centre, Karachi. The session focused on raising awareness about breast and cervical cancers, including their early diagnosis, as well as highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and children. Participants benefited from the informative discussions and were also provided with educational literature on the topics.

Renowned pathologist, scholar, and former member of PIMA Women Wing Shoora, Dr. Farrukh Abu Hazim, passed away. She was a distinguished professional with exceptional contributions to medical education and Islamic teachings.

The Central President of PIMA, Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, and the Central Shoora deeply mourn her sad demise. May Allah (SWT) forgive her, elevate her ranks in Jannah, and grant patience to her family.

Misinformation about cancer treatment on a national platform is highly concerning.

Chemotherapy is widely recognized as a critical component of cancer treatment, with health experts in Pakistan adhering to internationally established evidence-based protocols. In a society already burdened by myths and misinformation, such misleading content further undermines trust in medical treatments and exacerbates challenges for patients.

The members' meeting of the PIMA Women Wing Karachi included an important discussion on Tafheem-e-Mansuba-e-Amal.
The program began with a recitation from Surah Al-Saff by Dr. Sidra Ijaz, Central General Secretary.
Dr. Zakia Aurangzeb, Central President provided key guidance on the session planning and highlighted the significance of Good Standing Members.
Additionally, a practical exercise on SWOT analysis was conducted to train members in effective program reporting.
The meeting concluded with an address by Dr. Shaista Adnan, President PIMA Women Wing Karachi.

Dr. Abdur Rehman, Director PIMA Relief Pakistan, visited PIMA Hospital Mansehra on December 15, 2024, accompanied by the PIMA KPK team, which included President Dr. Fakhar-e-Alam, General Secretary Dr. Samiullah, and Dr. Muhammad Asghar.

During the visit, they toured various departments, presided over the Management Council Meeting, and conducted a comprehensive review of the hospital's operations. Specific timelines were established to enhance the hospital's functioning and efficiency.

PIMA Karachi organized a hybrid CME session to mark World Diabetes Day 2024 on November 30th at PIMA House, Karachi. Prof. Qaiser Jamal, Consultant Physician and Head of Medicine at KM&DC, was the chief guest.
The event featured notable speakers, including Dr. Omer Sultan, physician at JPMC, who discussed “Pre-Diabetes Management,” followed by Dr. Shakoor, an endocrinologist at NHS, who presented virtually on “Advancements in Diabetes Medications.” Dr. Ali Raza, a physician at Ziauddin University, concluded the series with a talk on “Managing Heart Diseases in Diabetes.”
The session was moderated by Dr. Munir Sadiq, a consultant physician at Al-Mustafa Hospital, while Dr. Zeeshan Hussain Ansari, a hematologist at Hamdard Hospital, welcomed the attendees and introduced PIMA's mission. The event concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks by Prof. Sanowar Ali.

PIMA Women Wing Dentistry Branch organized a free dental check-up at Ash Shajrah Islamic Academy on 21 November 2024. A team of skilled dentists, including Dr. Sidra Saeed, Dr. Tuba, and Dr. Asfa, examined 400 children, providing them with essential oral health care and education.

On 30th November 2024, PIMA Jhelum held its 50th session in the Fehm-ul-Quran series, led by Hafiz M. Sanaullah, PhD, which began in 2021.

The event featured a lecture on "Medical Ethics: An Islamic Perspective" by Dr. Iftikhar Burney, former General Secretary of PIMA, emphasizing the need for healthcare professionals to uphold Islamic values in medical practice. Dr. Abdul Sattar, General Secretary of PIMA North Punjab, also addressed.

Hosted by Dr. Umair Mirza, President of PIMA Jhelum, the event was graced by Dr. Shabbir Ahmad Kallu and Dr. Uzair Hassan, with over 70 healthcare professionals in attendance

پولیو کیسز میں اضافے پر پِیما کی والدین سے بچوں کی بروقت ویکسینیشن کی اپیل

پاکستان میں رواں سال پولیو سے متاثرہ کیسز کی تعداد 56 تک پہنچ چکی ہے، جو کہ انتہائی تشویشناک اور فوری مؤثر اقدامات کی متقاضی ہے۔ پاکستان اسلامک میڈیکل ایسوسی ایشن (پِیما) کے مرکزی صدر پروفیسر عاطف حفیظ صدیقی نے والدین سے پرزور اپیل کی ہے کہ وہ اپنے بچوں کو اس معذور کر دینے والی بیماری سے بچانے کے لیے بروقت پولیو ویکسینیشن کو یقینی بنائیں۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ پولیو سے بچاؤ کے لیے ویکسینیشن ہی واحد مؤثر ذریعہ ہے۔ یہ ویکسین ہر لحاظ سے محفوظ، مؤثر اور ہمارے بچوں کی صحت کے لیے ناگزیر ہے۔ ہمیں پولیو ویکسین کے بارے میں جھوٹی افواہوں پر یقین نہیں کرنا چاہیے۔
پِیما نے عوام سے اپیل کی کہ وہ پولیو کے خاتمے کی قومی مہم میں اپنا بھرپور کردار ادا کریں اور ویکسینیشن ٹیموں کے ساتھ مکمل تعاون کریں۔

PIMA urges parents to ensure polio vaccination amid rising cases

Recently, the reported polio-affected cases have risen to an alarming number of 56 this year, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures. Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, Central President of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), heartfeltly appealed to parents to protect their children from this crippling disease by ensuring timely polio vaccination.

"The rise in polio cases is alarming. Vaccination is the only proven way to protect children from lifelong disability caused by polio. I urge all parents to get their children vaccinated without delay," Prof. Siddiqui said.

He also addressed the misinformation surrounding polio vaccination, emphasizing, "Do not believe the false rumors about polio vaccines. The vaccines are safe, effective, and essential for our children’s health."

PIMA Lahore Relief Division marked World Diabetes Day with two impactful programs focused on raising awareness about diabetes.

The first program was a seminar held at the Rose Garden, attended by 80 participants. The event began with a brief Dars-e-Quran by Prof. Akhtar Azmi, followed by an introduction to PIMA by Dr. Imran Zafar. Prof. Hafiz Ijaz Ahmed delivered an insightful talk on diabetes, covering its prevention and management, which was followed by an engaging Q&A session. Additionally, 78 attendees were screened for diabetes on this occasion.

The second program was a diabetes screening camp at Alkhidmat Shifa Khana, where 90 patients were screened. Dr. Aarij Ali and his team provided expert guidance on preventive measures and effective diabetes management.
