My friend for 2 years…. I’ve treated Nusrat with guided growth surgery. He’s been through a lot, displaced from his country and home, subject of bullying amongst others. He fought back with his hugs and smiles and an endless list of Bollywood songs. His treatment goes on but he has a chance to go home again. Thank you for the lovely picture and memories.

It was great to catch up with my fellowship mentors Drs Joaquin Sanchez-Sotelo, John Sperling and Bassem El Hassan from Mayo. Thanks to Jon JP Warner from Massachusetts and George Athwal from Ontario for welcoming me into their community for pushing me to form a local shoulder community of my own. And to Matt Provencher who thanked me for doing “God’s work in Pakistan”.

Being from a family of Pakistani doctors, my grandmother always used to tell me that I will do “the FRCS”.
I don’t think she knew what it meant but understood that it was sought after and something to celebrate upon achievement.
It took me a while to get it and the day I found out I passed the FRCS exam, she left us for a better place.
I never found the courage in the last few years to put on this tie.
Who knew that I would get into run through training, complete fellowships from across the planet and become a full time NHS consultant only to leave a successful career and come back to serve Pakistan.
Today, I have become an MRCS examiner for Royal College of Edinburgh in Pakistan.
I’ve made peace with my tie!
I hope to make my wife, my kids, my parents and Nano proud.

Every year I make that extra effort to be an examiner at the prestigious FRCS Hull Mock exam in UK. This year I made it......but remotely......well done and good luck to all the candidates. It was an honour to be a part of the course and hope to see everyone in person next year.

I appreciate it is a worrying time, so I would like to update patients on how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic may affect your treatment.
We at Maroof International Hospital remain available for our patients throughout this time.
All outpatient appointments for new and existing patients can continue to go ahead on a virtual basis (tele-consultations).
I remain available for patients for the management of emergencies including acute injuries, trauma and fractures, where I can offer face-to-face consultations where necessary. I am also available to provide a trauma second opinion service via tele-consultations.
Anyone requiring urgent treatment should call us to book an online appointment through Maroof International Hospital website.
It is however sensible that patients who do not have an immediate requirement to see an orthopaedic surgeon delay their appointment in order to alleviate pressure on health services.
