Not every revolution needs a rally.

Sometimes, it begins with a street drain, a sewing needle, a chalkboard, or a mother learning to read.

Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan believed change doesn’t trickle down, it rises up, quietly, from the communities we often overlook.

At AHKF, we carry that belief forward every single day.

🕊️Today marks the birthday of Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan, a pioneer who believed that true change starts within communities.

There is a saying that "great work never dies". This idiom emphasizes the lasting impact on the lives of people, even after the person who created them is gone.

It suggests that good work transcends the individual and continues to influence or inspire others, becoming a part of our collective human consciousness or a legacy that flourishes in different forms.

✨Join us in turning ideas into impact as we continue the journey.

Healthcare shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

That’s why AHKF helped bring EZShifa’s cutting-edge telehealth technology to Dua Family Clinic in Rawalpindi, so women, children, and underserved families can access doctors without leaving their neighborhoods.

No long queues. No long travel. Just dignified, affordable care, powered by tech and rooted in trust.

This is what healthcare equity looks like in action.

World Population Day isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people. People like those in Dhok Hassu, who often lack access to even the most basic healthcare.

To mark the day, AHKF organized a free medical camp in Dhok Hassu, offering:

🩺 Family planning support
💉 Vaccinations (EPI & TT)
🧠 Mental health & well-being sessions
🏥 OPD services for common health needs

In one day, 51 individuals received the care they needed because sustainable population growth begins with informed choices and accessible health services.

This is what people-first development looks like.

🧵From Needle to New Beginnings!

This week at Apna Hunar Khana, women learned to draft armholes, design necklines, and stitch trousers & shirts, gaining skills they can use to earn, grow, and lead.

At AHKF, we believe that financial independence starts with opportunity. And every stitch is a step forward.

👩🏽‍🏫 Real skills.
💼 Real income.
📍Real change.

Who collects your waste? And what happens to it next?♻️

Under the SWM-IGES Sahiwal Project, AHKF is mapping the lives and work of informal waste pickers, listening to their stories, understanding their challenges, and identifying ways to transition their labor into formal, dignified livelihoods.

We’re gathering insights on:
✅ Daily routines & income
✅ Waste types & business practices
✅ Social protection access
✅ Role in the circular economy

This groundwork is essential to building inclusive, climate-smart waste systems, where no one is left behind.

📍What if your home had no address?

For thousands of families in Pakistan’s urban slums, this is reality. Without a formal address, they’re often left out of essential services like healthcare, education, even emergency help.

At AHKF, we’re using Google Plus Codes to digitally map unregistered homes in Dhok Hassu, Orangi, and beyond, so no family is left invisible.

Because when every home is on the map, access becomes possible. 🏠✨

Strong Mothers, Safer Futures💙👩‍👧

AHKF, in collaboration with the School of Leadership Foundation, organized a Mental Health and Child Protection session for mothers of Roshan Aaj Academic System (RAAS) students supported by UNICEF Pakistan and the Social Welfare Department.

The session created a safe, open space for 31 participants to explore positive parenting, emotional well-being, and child protection, helping mothers build stronger, more supportive homes.

When we support mothers, we support generations. 🌱

Bringing Healthcare Closer — One Click at a Time!

As part of our commitment to strengthening Quality Primary Health Care (qPHC) services for underserved communities, AHKF has facilitated a new milestone!

📍Dua Clinic, Satellite Town Rawalpindi has officially signed an MOU with EZShifa, a certified digital telehealth platform connecting patients to licensed doctors, anytime, anywhere.

Through this partnership, we aim to make affordable, reliable healthcare accessible for marginalized communities and support the growth of private healthcare providers (PHCPs).

Together, we’re transforming community health through connection, care, and innovation.

New Chapter, New Skills🧵📖

After empowering women through our Adult Literacy Program, AHKF has now launched a Post-Literacy Program in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD)!

This next phase goes beyond reading and writing. It’s about building futures through advanced Math, English, digital skills, and hands-on training in stitching, sewing, and crafts through “Roshni Ka Safar.”

Our learners aren’t just continuing their education, they’re gaining tools to lead, earn, and thrive. 💪🏽✨

Waste isn’t just trash, it’s untapped potential♻️✨

From the streets of Bhutto Nagar to high-level strategy rooms in Sahiwal and Okara, our latest field visit with IGES Japan and The Urban Unit (USPMU) brought together waste workers, community leaders, and policymakers to push forward a circular economy vision for the region.

Women voiced solutions.
Pickers shared their hopes.
Leaders discussed systems change.

This is what community-powered transformation looks like, and it’s only the beginning💥
