This , we look back at one of the most impactful journeys we have been part of - British Council’s ILMPossible: Take a Child to School (TACS), where School of Leadership Foundation proudly served as the implementing partner.
Launched in 2014 with the goal of enrolling 185,000 out-of-school children, the programme went on to achieve far more - by the end of Phase II, 471,269 children from Pakistan’s most rural and remote areas had been enrolled, with a retention rate of over 75%.
The programme’s strength lay in its community-driven model: 30,000 trained youth volunteers, 884 Mohalla Committees, and 24 partner organisations worked hand in hand to bring children into classrooms, keep them engaged through initiatives like the DOSTI life skills curriculum, and mobilise parents, teachers, and local influencers to champion education.
On this International Literacy Day, we celebrate the spirit of ILMPossible - a reminder that literacy is not just about opening classroom doors, but about creating lasting change in lives and communities.
