Nurturing Healthcare Leaders Through Soft Skills Development at GAK Institutions

GAK HealthCare International, together with Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) and Dr.Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH), hosted an inspiring Soft Skills Development Training for students, faculty, staff, and management.

The session was led by the three US Humphreys Sages Training Fellows:
- Dr. Sohail Habib Tajik (University of Minnesota) – Expert in leadership, risk assessment & decoding happiness
- Ms. Kanwal Ali (University of Washington) – Expert in communication, conflict management & social media
- Ms. Asia Ashraf (Virginia Commonwealth University) – Expert in drug addiction & mental health management

Participants from IMDC, Islamabad Nursing College, Islamabad Rehabilitation Sciences, Islamabad Medical Technology College, ANTH, and Islamabad Dental Hospital took part in this highly interactive program.

Director ANTH Dr. Areej Neyazi, VC CUI (Proposed) Maj. Gen. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Registrar CUI Col. (R) Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi, the Principal IMDC, and departmental HoDs were in attendance.

The training focused on effective communication, stress management, conflict resolution, and team building skills that empower today’s learners to become tomorrow’s leaders in healthcare.

Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi held a cordial meeting with the distinguished trainers, expressing his deep gratitude for the valuable time and efforts. He conveyed the resolve of GAK HealthCare for holistic development of students, faculty, and staff, and appreciated their role in strengthening the culture of learning and leadership within the institutions.

Independence Day 2025 at Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital – A Celebration of Freedom, Responsibility & National Pride!

GAK HealthCare International’s constituent institution, Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with great zeal, unity, and patriotic spirit.

The event was graced by the respected Chairman Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi, who led the flag hoisting ceremony and the traditional cake cutting to mark the occasion. He was joined by esteemed leaders including Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi, Director Hospital Dr. Areej Neyazi, Vice Chancellor CUI (Proposed) Maj. Gen. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Registrar CUI Col. Enhancing Patient Safety Through Pharmacovigilance

In line with its commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare, the Pharmacovigilance Center at Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) conducted a refresher training session on Pharmacovigilance and Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Reporting for medical and nursing staff in August 2025.

The session highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance in ensuring drug safety and improving treatment outcomes, while also providing clear guidance on accurate ADR form completion, timely reporting procedures, and addressing common barriers to reporting in clinical settings. Participants discussed the role of every healthcare professional in identifying and reporting suspected ADRs and explored ways to strengthen the reporting culture according to the DRAP guidelines.

To support this effort, Yellow ADR reporting forms have been placed at all nursing stations and wards of ANTH to make reporting easier and more consistent throughout the hospital. This initiative reflects ANTH’s practical approach to aligning with national and international medication safety standards and its continued work to enhance pharmacovigilance practices in all clinical areas.

The next refresher training session is planned to be held in December 2025 as part of ANTH management's ongoing efforts to promote awareness, compliance, and high standards of patient care.
