🔴 UK guidance on type 2 diabetes :
🔹New recommendation: most patients should now be offered an SGLT-2 inhibitor (like dapagliflozin) alongside metformin from day one.
These drugs protect the heart 🫀 and kidneys, not just lower blood sugar.
🔹For younger patients (under 40) or those with heart disease, a GLP1 (like semaglutide) is also recommended as a first-line option.
