-A typical Pulsatilla is quite depressed, gentle, melancholic, tearful, and moody.

-She is extremely touchy and irritable. She has bizarre and definite ideas.

-Kent says in his Materia Medica that Pulsatilla imagines that certain dietetics supposedly good for health are actually harmful and she abstains from them, that marriage is harmful and she avoids the company of men, etc.

-Pulsatilla is taciturn, says nothing and answers only in monosyllables, like her sister Sepia.

-Faced with such a patient, the practitioner wonders whether he is dealing with a Pulsatilla or a Sepia or even a Natrum mur.

Farrington says that Petroleum seems to him to be the best remedy for fetid armpit sweat. Sepia is also a very good remedy for fetid underarm sweat, and we have cured a large number of cases in young girls who become self-conscious about it and no longer dare to see anyone. Conditions that can be treated with Silicea are often caused by the suppression of foot sweat, for example, when the patient wets their feet. Silicea will relieve the patient by restoring this foot sweat, which will eventually cure them as well.

SILICEA ACTION ON NUTRITION, particularly in children.

Farrington writes: "The great and important effect of Silicea requires in the nutritive changes it produces.

As the nutritive changes are more evident in the growing child than in the adult, you will find that the symptoms of Silicea appear chiefly in children from an early age, not that it is contraindicated in adults, but its effects are more evident in youth.

The child, therefore, is imperfectly nourished, not from the bad quality of the food, but from the failure of assimilation.

The head is of a disproportionate size; the fontanelles, especially the anterior one, are open; the body is small and emaciated, except for the abdomen, which is rounded and developed, as is often the case in scrofulous children.

The head, including the scalp, neck, nape of the neck, and face, is covered with a fetid sweat. The face is pale, waxy, earthy, or yellowish.

The bones are poorly developed, as well as the muscles, so the child takes a long time to learn to walk.

The fibrous parts of the joints are inflamed, swollen, or ulcerated. This gives the joints, especially the knees, a knobby appearance."

(Farrington's Materia Medica Clinical, French translation by Jean-Paul Tessier. All quotes from Farrington have been translated by Dr. Jean-Paul Tessier).

CALCAREA CARB ACTION ON BONES:

In patients with Calcarea carb., there is poor calcium distribution (as in the blood), resulting in calcium accumulation in some areas, resulting in exostosis (highly characteristic of Calcarea carb.); in other areas, the bone is cartilaginous, soft, and deformed (rickets, scoliosis). The fontanelle is slow to close, and children with Calcarea carb. experience delayed walking (in Natrum mur., the delay is more intellectual than physical; children with Natrum mur. learn to walk late, while in Calcarea carb., the delay is related to physical weakness).
