Why can’t my child sit or stand properly?"
Many parents ask this — and the answer is often hidden in the hips.
We often see children whose hip joints become stiff or 'locked' simply because they lie down too long without active movement.

We recently began working with a special child experiencing hip joint stiffness due to prolonged lying down and lack of movement. This is common among children with developmental delays, and if not addressed early, it can lead to joint locking, poor posture, and pain.

🎯 Our Focus:
Targeted hip mobility exercises designed to:
✅ Improve joint flexibility
✅ Enhance posture & comfort
✅ Support better transitions (lying ➝ sitting ➝ standing)

💡 Why It Matters:
Limited hip mobility can impact not just movement but also overall physical and emotional development. Early physiotherapy helps create a strong foundation for independence.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 To All Parents:
If your child spends long hours lying down or shows stiffness in the hips, now is the time to act. Early intervention = better outcomes.

📍" SPASTIC WRIST FLEXION Deformity"
It is a condition where the wrist remains involuntarily flexed due to spasticity (increased muscle tone) in the wrist flexor muscles, primarily caused by Upper Motor Neuron (UMN) lesions.

🔹 Most commonly occurs in
Children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy (one-sided involvement) and in diplegic or quadriplegic CP if upper limbs are involved.

🔍 Clinical Examination:

🔹Wrist held in flexion, sometimes with ulnar deviation.
🔹Spasticity felt in flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor carpi radialis.
🔹Modified Ashworth Scale used to measure spasticity.
🔹Passive ROM is limited but improves with slow stretch.
🔹Dynamic tone increases with speed or movement.
🔹Functional difficulty.

📍Treatment:
🧴 Physiotherapy: Stretching, strengthening, CIMT, FES.
🧷 Splinting: Resting and dynamic splints, serial casting.
💉 Botox: Reduces tone temporarily in overactive muscles.
🛠️ Surgery: Tendon lengthening/transfer, wrist fusion for fixed deformity

📍" Double Squeeze Bridge"
(Knee Ball + Foot Foam Roller Press)

Why This Exercise Is a Hidden Gem for Your Child’s Development ?

This fun and powerful exercise might look simple, but it works wonders !
🔹While your child lies on their back, they lift their hips up like a little bridge but here’s the twist:
🔹They squeeze a soft ball between their knees and press a foam roller with their feet at the same time. Sounds like a challenge ?
🔹That’s the magic ! This move helps wake up their core muscles, strengthen the hips and legs, and teach the body how to stay balanced and coordinated.
🔹This exercise also improves how the brain and body work together , especially beneficial for children with cerebral palsy, low muscle tone, motor coordination issues, attention challenges or postural instability, making it a valuable part of neuro-rehabilitation and developmental therapy programs.
📍Best of all, it’s safe, playful, and can be done right at home — turning therapy into a game with real benefits !
