Emergency Department of Memon Medical Institute Hospital conducted session on *Emergency Medicine Procedures Workshop* lead by Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed – HOD Emergency on Wednesday dated 15th February 2023 for the doctors.

Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed shared his vast knowledge and experience about Emergency Medicine Procedures among the participants. He also conducted activities for practical learning. He focused on following Skills / Procedures;

1) BLS Survey
2) ACLS Survey including
i) Primary Assessment
ii) Secondry Assessment
3) CPR in Adult
4) CPR in Child & Infant
5) Heimlich Manouver
6) Chemical Cardioversion
7) Mechanical Cardioversion
8) Valsalva Manouver
9) Modified Valsava Manouver
10) Synchronised Cardioversion

These procedures are crucial for every Physician to learn and understand, specifically for those who are working in Emergency Department, Special Care and in Intensive Care Units. He was highly appreciated by participants and organizers.

A Two-day training session was held at MMI Hospital on the 1st and 2nd of November 2022. On day 1st, the session was led by the Head of the Emergency Department Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed who was kind enough to lead every part of the session. He conducted a session on the Basic Clinical Skills where he discussed about the Modern Methodologies of History Taking in Emergency Department during which various scenarios were discussed.

Furthermore, he aims to enable the Physicians to adopt the approach with handover techniques including ATMIST, etc.

On Day 2nd, the focus was on the Clinical Examination including Examination of CNS, CVS, GI, Respiratory, Ge***al & Musculoskeletal Systems in which candidates were trained in conventional Clinical Examination & additionally about Focused/Point of Care Examination in the Emergency Department along with its significance. In addition, he focused on the Examination of Medicolegal cases/emergencies commonly presented in the Emergency Department, including the Examination of Victims of Sexual Assault.

The session has proven to be an effective educational tool for all healthcare providers in MMI hospital. Similarly, the physicians & staff of the two-day sessions believe that it has significantly enhanced their knowledge and skills, and showed much interest with positive Feedback.

Our respected Head of Emergency Department Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed was invited as a guest speaker to conduct session on “Basic Life Support (BLS) & First Aid” in Habib Metropolitan Bank Ltd. Karachi.

Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed conducted activity based session about Basic Life Support. He also conducted group activities for practical learning. He was highly appreciated by participants and organizers.

Dr. Mehroz and Mr. Prem Kumar, from Emergency Department of MMI Hospital also joined Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed.

Our respected Prof. Dr. Shagufta Tahir (Uro-Gynecologist/Endoscopic Surgeon - MMI Hospital) was invited as a guest speaker in a virtual session by Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Society of India to talk about “Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery” at IOG, Egmore, Chennai. She represented MMI Hospital at International Conference.

In this session, she shared her vast experience and expertise in Urogynecology, which was highly appreciated by the participants and organizers.

A CME on “ Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy Management & Neonatal Outcome” was conducted on Wednesday, 29th June 2022, by Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of MMI Hospital.

The event was supervised by Dr. Nasreen Majid & Prof. Dr. Shagufta Tahir in which renowned medical experts invited as a guest speaker includes Prof. Shabeen Naz, Dr. Shabina Arif (AKUH), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Adnan Kanpurwala.

In this talk speakers highlight the significance for “Management of Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy & Neonatal Outcome”.

Furthermore, the panel discussion about the topic was lead by Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Nagi, Prof. Dr. Tazeen Abbas, Prof. Dr. Haleema Yasmeen and Prof. Dr. Shagufta Tahir in which they answer the queries & questions from participants regarding Management of Hyperclycemia & Neonatal Outcome.

In last, souvenir was distributed among guest speakers by our worthy Chief Guest CEO MMI Hospital Brig. Dr. Malik Waqar Ahmad Awan, TI(M) (Retd).

On Sunday 20th March 2022, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology conducted a free medical camp and awareness session for women in MMI Hospital.

The session was conducted by Senior Consultants and Post Graduate Doctors, in which they talked about different women's health issues. More than 70 women attended this session & camp.

The program was hosted by Dr. Urooj Fatima, Organized by Prof. Dr. Shagufta Tahir and lecture delivered by HOD Obstetric & Gynaecology Dr. Mehwish Fatima, Dr. Sarwat Laqa, Dr. Sana Rehman, Dr. Shagufta Tahir, Dr. Hadiya, Dr. Urooj, Dr. Hameeda, Dr. Ammarah, Dr. Nausheen Gull, and Dr. Samina, Dr. Najmusehar.
