Subject: Urgent Demand for Action — Inhumane Conditions in Orthopaedic Ward Doctors’ Rooms

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) JPMC expresses grave concern over the deteriorating condition of doctors’ rooms in the Orthopaedic Wards of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Despite repeated complaints and written requests submitted over the past seven months, the Pakistan Aid Foundation and JPMC administration have failed to take any action to address this serious issue.

These rooms, meant to provide rest and relief to on-duty doctors, have become the dirtiest and most unhygienic spaces in the entire hospital. The ceiling continues to leak water, air conditioning systems are non-functional during peak summer, and the rooms are never cleaned properly. Sweepers neglect their duties, and the attached washrooms are filthy and unusable. The mattresses and pillows are in such poor condition that they pose a health risk rather than offering comfort.

It is a matter of immense shame and disappointment that doctors—those who serve the people day and night, often in critical emergencies—are being forced to rest in such inhumane and unacceptable conditions.

We, the YDA JPMC, demand the following immediate actions:
1. Immediate Renovation of the Orthopaedic Ward Doctors’ Rooms.
2. Functioning Air Conditioning and Dry Ceilings to ensure a basic standard of living.
3. Regular Cleaning and Maintenance by the sanitary staff under strict supervision.
4. Replacement of Mattresses, Bedsheets, and Pillows to ensure basic hygiene and comfort.
5. Proper Washroom Sanitation and plumbing maintenance.

If our concerns are not addressed within a reasonable timeframe, YDA JPMC will be compelled to escalate this matter through peaceful protest and media advocacy. We believe that doctors’ dignity, health, and working environment are non-negotiable.

Doctors deserve better. Humanity demands better

اس موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبداللہ متقی نے ہاؤس آفیسرز، پوسٹ گریجویٹ ٹرینی ڈاکٹروں اور فیکلٹی ممبران سے تفصیلی ملاقات کی۔ انہوں نے CPSP کے مقاصد، سسٹم، اور تربیتی ڈھانچے کی وضاحت کی اور موجودہ چیلنجز پر روشنی ڈالتے ہوئے ان کے قابل عمل حل بھی تجویز کیے۔

نوجوان ڈاکٹروں نے کھل کر سوالات کیے، جن کا نہایت خندہ پیشانی سے جواب دیا گیا۔ ان کی گفتگو سے ٹرینی ڈاکٹروں کو نہ صرف رہنمائی ملی بلکہ اعتماد میں بھی اضافہ ہوا۔

یہ دورہ علم، رہنمائی، اور حوصلہ افزائی کا بہترین امتزاج تھا، جس نے CPSP اور نوجوان ڈاکٹروں کے درمیان ربط کو مزید مضبوط کیا۔

Subject: Complaint Regarding Network Signal Issues at Jinnah Hospital, Karachi

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to bring to your attention a persistent issue with zong+ ufone network signals at Jinnah Hospital, Karachi. For the past three months, there has been a significant drop in signal strength within the hospital premises, making it extremely difficult to communicate with patients and their attendants.

This ongoing issue is causing serious inconvenience, especially in an environment where reliable communication is essential with patients and in emergencies conditions and situations . We kindly request that your technical team investigate and resolve the network coverage problem at the earliest possible time.

Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

کراچی کے علاقے گلشن حدید میں آج صبح پیش آنے والے افسوسناک واقعے میں، جہاں پولیس اور وکلاء کے درمیان تصادم کے نتیجے میں کم از کم چھ افراد، بشمول ایک وکیل زخمی ہوئے، چیئرمین وائی ڈی اے سندھ ڈاکٹر فرخ رؤف فوری طور پر ایمرجنسی ڈیپارٹمنٹ پہنچے۔

ڈاکٹر فرخ رؤف نے زخمیوں کے بروقت علاج کا آغاز یقینی بنایا اور خود نگرانی کرتے ہوئے اس بات کو یقینی بنایا کہ زخمیوں کو بہترین طبی سہولیات فراہم کی جائیں۔ ان کی بروقت آمد اور جذبہ خدمت قابل تحسین ہے۔

YDA JPMC Announces Complete Boycott of OPDs and Elective OTs Until written orders are in hand and all demands are officially fulfilled.
The continued and unexplained delay by the Health Secretary in issuing the official letters is unacceptable. Any resulting compromise in patient care, including morbidity or mortality at JPMC, will rest solely on the shoulders of the Health Department. The responsibility lies with those delaying justice and administrative action.

KARACHI, April 23, 2025 – Today, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) observed Black Ribbon Day in fierce opposition to any proposed new canal on the Indus River. In a powerful display of unity, YDA members donned black ribbons and echoed one resolute message:
“No More Canals – Indus is Not for Sale.”

The protest, organized on the hospital grounds, saw doctors, healthcare workers, and students united in symbolic silence and vocal condemnation of backdoor deals being pushed at the expense of the people. YDA JPMC made it clear that any attempt to divert more water from the Indus is a direct threat to the survival of Sindh.

The YDA calls upon all segments of society—civil, political, and professional—to rise against this anti-people agenda and demand an immediate halt to any canal projects on the Indus.

Today, doctors, paramedics, nurses, and physiotherapists at JPMC staged a unified protest against the rising violence on healthcare professionals and the unjust transfer of Dr. Yaseen, who stood by his fellow doctors in the recent ICU assault incident.

In a strong show of resistance, OPDs and Elective OTs were completely shut down.

YDA JPMC’s clear demands:
1. Cancellation of the false FIR against the doctor and return of stolen belonging back to Doctor.
2. Arrest and termination of the culprits.
3. Immediate reversal of Dr. Yaseen’s transfer.
4. An official letter from IG Sindh barring FIRs against doctors without Sindh Healthcare Commission inquiry.
5. Implementation of the Security Bill and One Patient, One Attendant policy.
6. Expansion of ICU beds, staff, and centralized consultations.
7. Removal of secuirty Incharge Retired Colonel & PAFF Employees Who were involved in incident.

Following the protest, the Health Secretary assured that all demands will be addressed, but YDA has made it clear:
Protest will continue until written orders are in hand and all demands are officially fulfilled.

Doctors’ safety and dignity are non-negotiable!

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) JPMC strongly condemns the unjust and politically motivated targeting of Dr. Yaseen, who is being punished simply for standing with the truth and supporting his fellow doctors against the violent assault carried out by Generic BS Nursing students inside the ICU.

Dr. Yaseen’s only “fault” was taking a principled stand against the goons who attacked a duty doctor and raising his voice for the safety and dignity of the medical community. Instead of rewarding his courage, the administration has issued his transfer order in clear retaliation — a move we reject outright.

This shameful act has exposed the administration’s priorities — rather than protecting healthcare professionals, they are suppressing those who dare to speak out against injustice.

YDA JPMC announces a complete boycott of OPDs and Elective OTs until the following demands are met.

1. Immediate cancellation of the FIR falsely lodged against the doctor.
2. Immediate arrest and permanent termination of admission for the culprits nominated in the FIR.
3. IG Sindh must issue clear directives to all SSPs and SHOs that no FIR against any doctor will be entertained without the recommendation of the Sindh Healthcare Commission after a thorough inquiry.
4. Immediate implementation of the Security Bill at JPMC, enforcing a “One Patient, One Attendant” policy.
5. Increase in ICU beds and recruitment of adequate ICU staff at JPMC to meet patient care demands.
6. Centralization of all ICU consultations for smooth and standardized patient care.
7. Termination of Security Incharge Retired Colonel.
8. Immediate cancellation of Dr. Yaseen’s transfer order — his stand for justice must not be met with punishment.
