In 1994, the latest phacoemulsification technique for cataract surgery was introduced and adopted, after various workshops at the hospital by Dr Paul Rosen from Oxford. In 2010, the hospital acquired the latest retinal surgery machine, The Constellation, for vitreo-retinal surgeries. The hospital boasts to be the first hospital in Karachi to use this on a regular basis. Recently, the latest OCT machine, the Topcon 2000- 3D was acquired, providing 50000 scans per minute, giving high detail images, which helps in the diagnosis and management of retinal diseases.
