The Gram Color Kit from is a microbiology staining kit used for Gram staining, which differentiates bacteria into Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms under a microscope.

🔹Purpose
Used for primary identification of bacteria in clinical and research microbiology.Distinguishes organisms based on cell wall structure.

1) Liofilchem® MacConkey Agar

🔹Purpose

Used to isolate and differentiate Gram-negative bacteria, especially Enterobacteriaceae (e.g., E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella)

🔹How It Works

Contains bile salts and crystal violet, which inhibit Gram-positive bacteria.
Contains lactose and a pH indicator (neutral red):
Lactose fermenters → pink/red colonies
Non-lactose fermenters → colorless/transparent colonies
This allows you to select for Gram-negative bacteria and differentiate them based on lactose fermentation.

2) Liofilchem® Sabouraud CAF Agar

🔹Purpose

Designed for isolation and enumeration of fungi — yeasts and molds — from clinical and non-clinical samples.

🔹Composition & Principle

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar base: high glucose concentration, acidic pH (~5.6) — favors fungi growth.

Liofilchem Ceftriaxone (CRO) antibiotic disc is used in Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) to determine whether bacteria are susceptible or resistant to the antibiotic ceftriaxone using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method.

🔹Basic Product Details

🔹Test Method (Disk Diffusion)

Prepare bacterial suspension 0.5 McFarland.
Inoculate Mueller-Hinton agar plate.
Place Ceftriaxone CRO 30 µg disc on agar surface.
Incubate 35 ±2°C for 16–18 hours.
Measure zone of inhibition (mm) and interpret using CLSI or EUCAST guidelines.

🔹Example Zone Diameter Interpretation (CLSI)

For Enterobacterales:
≥23 mm → Susceptible
20–22 mm → Intermediate
≤19 mm → Resistant

Iodine MKTT Solution

Liofilchem Iodine MKTT Solution is a sterile iodine–potassium iodide (I₂–KI) solution used as a supplement for preparing Müller–Kauffmann Tetrathionate-Novobiocin (MKTTn) Broth, a selective enrichment medium for the detection of Salmonella spp. in food and environmental samples.

🔹Principle Iodine reacts with thiosulfate present in MKTT broth to form tetrathionate. Tetrathionate inhibits the growth of competing intestinal flora (e.g., coliforms). Salmonella species can reduce tetrathionate and survive, allowing selective enrichment. Novobiocin (in MKTTn) further suppresses Gram-positive bacteria and Proteus spp.

🔹Applications
Food products (meat, poultry, dairy, spices, processed foods)
Animal feed, Environmental swabs from food production areas, Quality control laboratories

🔹How It Is Used Prepare MKTT broth base as per manufacturer instructions. Aseptically add the required volume of Iodine MKTT Solution. Mix gently and use immediately.
