SAATM is a trans-national organization which was conceptualized in 1999 by a group of transfusion medicine specialist from South East Asian SAATM has been accreditated by the global collaboration for the blood safety (GCBS), a unit constituted by the United Nation for safe blood supply and also working to initiate close liaison with international agencies like WHO, Intl’ federation of Red Cross, Red, Red crescent society, etc.

1. SAATM has started Fellowship programs for doctors and technicians from member countries to three designated SAATM training centers in different countries. Fellowship covers 2-8 weeks training abroad in knowledge/ skill defiant part of that country. (SPONSORED)

2. SAATM is launching a blood bank accreditation/ grading program for member countries involving government and intra-governmental agencies. (SPONSORED)

3. The association wishes to act like an advisory body to the local government at provincial or national level in case any assistance needed for improving blood transfusion services (BTS) or in solving specific issues related to this service.

4. To offer advocacy and consultancy to local government/non-governmental organizations in improving the quality and technical standard of BTS in member countries.

5. Regular publication of SAATM E-Bulletin which are distributed to members and peers in different countries, free of cost. SAATM is coming soon with the global publication of an international peer reviewed journal.

6. Yearly annual conference of the association is held in different member countries, on rotation if possible to enhance capacity building in technical and non-technical fields as well as to bring awareness in recent advances in Transfusion Medicine.

7.Regular communication, collaboration, exchange of notes/ course curriculum/ training materials &exchange of resource persons if required among stake holders from countries countries.

8. Regular organization of CME, workshop and seminars, especially on quality management program (QMP), through local chapters of Association.
