The chest x-ray of an 8-year-old child shows mediastinal lymph nodes enlargements. The soft tissue shadows in the mediastinum are prominent. The trachea is in the midline and not displaced. The causes of the enlargement are diverse infection like tuberculosis, cancer lymphoma, lung cancer, sarcoidosis, autoimmune diseases, metastatic deposits, reactive hyperplasia and more.

this trichobezoar was removed from stomach of the patient, whose plain x-ray abdomen i posted two days ago. There was extension of the foreign body mass, composed of matted hair with ingested food, into the duodenum and beyond. Open surgery and gastrotomy was done to evacuate the stomach of the mass. The extension into the duodenum was also able to come out through the gastrotomy without opening up the duodenum.

plain x-ray abdomen. Epigastric region shows a soft mass extending from left to right side. Mottled lucent shadows within the solid mass seems to be occupying the upper abdomen. Few fragments of mettalic opacities are also present on the left side. This is an x-ray of trichobezoar- a mass of undigested hairs with matted food ingested -accumulated in the stomach.

This is an example of exostosis - a benign bony growth. It is also known as Osteochondroma. The tumour is capped by cartilage and cortex and medulla are in continuity with the shaft of the main bone. Such tumours are mor commonly see in the long bones of the extremities. It can rarely been seen in flat bones like scapula and pelvis. They can be incidental findings on routine investigation.

This is radiological image of a benign bone tumour -osteochondroma. It is also suggested that this may be a development anomaly. It arises in childhood and progression of the growth usually stops after puberty. The commonest site is femur as in this case. Usually, it is asymptomatic and incidental finding. No treatment is required unless symptomatic or suspicious of malignant change (extremly rare)

This x-ray shows fracture through the epiphyseal plate (growth plate) of upper end of tibia (Salter Harris fracture). Fibula has green stick fracture too. Such fractures are common in long bones of children(15%). Heals well but may stunt growth and deformed -needs to be followed up for a year at least after growth plate fractures.

The supine position shows dilated loops of GI tract and decubitus reveals free air in the peritoneum- pneumoperitoneum.
