Life tragedies:
22 year old young girl, married for 2 months, presented in my clinic with abdominal pain, distension, nausea , vomiting.
Her abdominal examination showed a big mass , large tummy.
CT scan showed ovarian mass.
It's a difficult case to deal with at this young age, newly married, to break the news of suspected cancer.
My initial decision was to do her laproscopic biopsy of the mass, which turned out to be a "Borderline tumor of the o***y".
There is now innovation in the surgery.
For these young patients we have the option of "Fertility sparing surgery "
I did her unilateral salpingo oophorectomy (removed her cancer ,one tube and o***y), omentectomy (fatty tissue of intestine) pelvic lymph nodes with conservation of her uterus(womb) and other tube, o***y.
The bad news is she has cancer.
The good news is her uterus and tube and o***y are preserved because she has a good kind of cancer and her husband is very supportive, so good people still exists.
After 2 years of surveillance she can have her babies.
