The Department of Orthodontics, Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM), organized an insightful Orthognathic Surgical Seminar on Friday, 25th October 2025, at the 5TH Floor Auditorium, AIDM Karachi. The academic session aimed to enhance understanding of treatment planning and interdisciplinary collaboration in orthognathic surgery a crucial aspect of managing dentofacial deformities.
The event commenced with an opening ceremony led by Dean AIDM, Vice President CPSP Prof. Dr. Ambreen Afzal, who welcomed the distinguished speakers and participants. In her address, she emphasized the significance of comprehensive treatment planning and coordination between orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons to achieve functional and aesthetic outcomes in complex surgical cases.
The keynote session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Noor-ul-Wahab, HOD and an eminent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Ziauddin Hospital and Prof. Dr. Syed Shah Faisal Dean KMU and allied who elaborated on the surgical principles. Their presentations were enriched with clinical cases, and discussions on patient-specific treatment planning. The seminar was further enriched by the presence of distinguished expert panelists, including Principal AIDM Dr Hasnain Sakrani,HOD Maxillofacial Dept.AIDM Dr. Dinaz Gandhi, and Dr. M.Muzammil, who shared their valuable insights and experiences during the discussion session. Their expert Opinions provided participants with a deeper understanding of multidisciplinary approaches to complex surgical cases.
The seminar provided a valuable learning platform for postgraduate residents attending from all over Karachi and Hyderabad, fellows and faculty members. Interactive discussions allowed participants to gain deeper insights into diagnosis, surgical treatment planning, and surgical-orthodontic treatment integration.
At the conclusion of the session, tokens of appreciation and shields were presented by President AIDM Prof.Dr. M.Altamash and Vice Dean AIDM Dr. Shaheena Altamash to the speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions as speakers aswell as to the Sponsors. The event was highly appreciated by attendees for its academic depth and clinical relevance.
The seminar reaffirmed AIDM’s commitment to advancing dental education and promoting evidence-based clinical practice through continued academic activities.
