Dialysis is a treatment that helps clean your blood of fluid and toxins when your kidneys can no longer do their job well. Needing to start dialysis can feel overwhelming and scary but dialysis treatments allow you to live.

Myths:
1) The only option for receiving dialysis treatment is to travel to a center at least three times per week for hours.
2) Dialysis is expensive or unaffordable for normal patients.
3) Due to time constraints, dialysis patients can't travel.
4) Dialysis patients do not have the time or energy to work.
5) As a dialysis patient, I will feel alone and will be a burden to my family.

Dialysis patient can travel?
Yes, most patients who receive dialysis or have had a kidney transplant can travel safely and continue their treatment while away from home. Of course, you should always consult your doctor before planning to travel. Most doctors encourage travel if the patient's health is stable. After you’ve been on dialysis for a month or two, you’ll probably be in more of a routine and feeling better. So now you may be up for thinking about what other activities you’d like to do during dialysis sessions while you’re at the center.
Dialysis treatments can actually give you blocks of “me time” that you might not have had before. Your treatment time is actually a great opportunity to catch up on things you’ve been wanting to do or to simply relax.
During dialysis, Listening to music is one of the best ways to relax during your treatment. In fact, a study showed that people who listened to music during dialysis had less pain and nausea than those who didn’t.
