Today is International Nurses Day! For around 200 of our nursing colleagues who provide medical care to patients throughout Jinnah Hospital - Karachi, we salute you!

At the Hospital, today and every other day will continue to be a difficult day for the poor and destitute who come for medical advise. With a focus on providing the best possible care, our Nursing Staff continues to work with our partners around the Hospital to ensure stability of our healthcare system & respond to potential medical emergencies.

We build the Jinnah Food Court, a food distribution & cooking facility in the Hospital which provides food to the needy in a dignified manner, with vast halls, multiple kitchens & seating capacity. Pakistan has amongst the highest incidence rate of substance abuse and other neurological disorders. In 2020, 573,000 Pakistanis were suffering from TB (National TB Program). At Patients' Aid Foundation, our footprint at the Chest Ward of the Jinnah Hospital Karachi provides free medical care to hundreds of TB Patients who walk through our doors daily. On World TB Day, we ask for your help in our fight against Tuberclosis. Any zakat or donation you give will be used for a needy patient struggling with TB.

Haris is what we call a “Post-RN BScN” Staff Nurse. By nursing standards, that’s pretty much up there! Haris provides critical care to patients who have suffered a direct impact or trauma on their head. He is based in our Neuro Emergency Area where most of the Road Transport Accidents come in, plus other scheduled spinal and neuro surgeries. Needless to say, it is one of the most stressful wards to work in.

For Patients' Aid Foundation, one of our focus areas is the Neuro Surgical Units at Jinnah Hospital Karachi. With 6 dedicated Operating Theatres & 3 separate wards, every second of every minute of every day, we save lives under the most challenging conditions.

Nothing prepares you for the day when we come for duty, says Haris. Survival of the fittest, it’s a game of nerves trying to save patients, he says!

We are thankful to TPL Corp Ltd. (TPL Trakker Ltd.) for their generous donations to Patients'​ Aid Foundation in the past. We recently had the pleasure of hosting Chairman of TPL Corp Ltd. Mr Jameel Yusuf S.St and Mr Sitwat Jamal who visited Jinnah Hospital Karachi to look at facilities infrastructure developed by the Patients' Aid Foundation as well as the equipment installed. Mr Mushtaq Chhapra SI, Chairman of the Board, PAF as well as Dr Tariq Mahmood, Head of Radiology JPMC hosted the two gentlemen.

We are grateful to the TPL group for their commitment to renovate and reconstruct the Accidents & Emergency Ward at JPMC.

Jinnah Hospital Karachi is a city within a city. With buildings and wards built over 75+ years, internal transport of patients within the Hospital compound has always been a challenge. It is a common sight to see patients being wheeled by their attendants from one facility to another on the roads.

In keeping with providing better facilities, Patients' Aid Foundation is now providing internal transport for patients from one ward to another. A paramedic is always at hand to provide immediate care if needed.

Please help us facilitate needy patients at the Jinnah Hospital.

We have made significant progress at the Jinnah Hospital Karachi for Kidney disease. On World Kidney Day, we showcase our multi-million rupees investment in a Lithotripsy Machine. This equipment installed in the Urology Ward performs a non-surgical procedure on patients with kidney stones. Through a laser, the stones are broken down and passed out during urination. Patients' Aid Foundation subsidizes this procedure for free.

Dialysis Facilities at the Nephrology Ward are free for a significant number of patients. As endorsed by the Head of Nephrology, while one dialysis session can easily cost PKR 15,000 and a monthly cost of upto PKR 60,000 to 70,000; Patients Aid Foundation provides the facility for free.

Celebrating : Champa is for us, a woman of substance & has been a part of our team since 2015 . Not a day goes by when she does not proudly undertake to clean the Ward ensuring the best health standards for patients & visitors alike. She is a mother and a grandmother and beams when she tells us that her grandchildren are educated! What keeps her going? She said, it was faith, economic independence and knowing that she can make a difference to someone’s life on a daily basis.
