Wilayat Shah – A Father, A Fighter, A Story That Deserves to Be Heard

Wilayat Shah is a rickshaw driver from the remote village of Lakhti Banda, Hangu. A father to seven children, he is living below the poverty line, struggling each day to provide even the basics for his family.

Recently, he began to lose weight rapidly. His Body Mass Index (BMI) dropped to a dangerously low 14, a sign of severe cachexia — a life-threatening condition.

After medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. A disease he didn’t even know he had was slowly consuming his strength and his life.

But this is not just his story. It’s a wake-up call. There are many Wilayat Shahs among us, silently suffering, unaware of the storm inside their bodies.

ولایت شاہ ہنگو کے دور دراز گاؤں لختی بانڈہ سے تعلق رکھنے والے ایک رکشہ ڈرائیور ہیں۔ سات بچوں کے والد ہیں اور غربت کی لکیر سے نیچے زندگی گزار رہے ہیں، ہر دن اپنے بچوں کے لیے دو وقت کی روٹی کی جدوجہد میں گزرتا ہے۔

حال ہی میں ان کا وزن تیزی سے کم ہونے لگا۔ جب معائنہ کیا گیا تو معلوم ہوا کہ ان کا BMI صرف 14 ہے، یعنی وہ شدید کمزوری اور دبلا پن (Cachexia) کا شکار ہو چکے ہیں۔

تشخیص سے پتا چلا کہ وہ ٹائپ 1 ذیابیطس میں مبتلا ہیں۔ وہ مرض جس کا انہیں علم بھی نہ تھا، ان کے جسم کو اندر سے کھوکھلا کر رہا تھا۔

یہ صرف ولایت شاہ کی کہانی نہیں، یہ ہم سب کے لیے ایک انتباہ ہے۔ ہمارے ارد گرد کئی ولایت شاہ ہوں گے، جو خاموشی سے تکلیف میں مبتلا ہیں۔

سلامہ، درہ آدم خیل کی رہائشی ہے۔ وہ اور اس کا بھائئ دونوں بینائی سے محروم ہیں۔ دونوں کو شوگر ہے۔ ان کا والد بھی معذور ہے اور چھوٹا بھائی، صرف 15 سال کا ہے، سارا بوجھ اٹھاتا ہے۔ وہ مزدوری کرتا ہے تاکہ گھر کا نظام چل سکے۔
