Instead of setting yourself a lofty weight loss goal, what if this year, you approached your New Year's resolution a little differently? Losing weight isn't the end-all-be-all for getting healthy, and can easily lead to unhealthy dieting practices down the line. So alternatively, what if you set a goal that encouraged living a healthier life rather than focusing on a number on the scale?

Eating a nutritious diet is about so much more than just losing weight. Your diet can affect your longevity, your risk of developing chronic diseases, and even your mood. And a nutritious diet doesn't mean restriction—it means learning how to eat healthfully while still incorporating in all of the foods that you love into your life.

🌸 PCOS makes it more difficult for the body to use the hormone insulin, which normally helps convert sugars and starches from foods into energy. This condition -- called insulin resistance -- can cause insulin and sugar -- glucose -- to build up in the bloodstream.

🌸 High insulin levels increase the production of male hormones called androgens. High androgen levels lead to symptoms such as body hair growth, acne, irregular periods -- and weight gain.

🌸 Because the weight gain is triggered by male hormones, it is typically in the abdomen. That is where men tend to carry weight. So, instead of having a pear🍐 shape, women with PCOS have more of an apple shape 🍎Abdominal fat is the most dangerous kind of fat. That’s because it is associated with an increased risk of heart disease and other health conditions.

🌸 No matter what the cause, weight gain can be detrimental to your health. Women with PCOS are more likely to develop many of the problems associated with weight gain and insulin resistance, including:

✒Type 2 diabetes
✒High cholesterol
✒High blood pressure
✒Sleep apnea
✒Infertility
✒Endometrial cancer
✏Many of these conditions can lead to heart disease.

07/09/2020

Doctors don’t know exactly what causes PCOS. They believe that high levels of male hormones prevent the ovaries from producing hormones and making eggs normally.

✒ Genes, insulin resistance, and inflammation have all been linked to excess androgen production.

🌸 Genes:

Studies show that PCOS runs in families
It’s likely that many genes — not just one — contribute to the condition

🌸 Insulin resistance:

Up to 70 percent of women with PCOS have insulin resistance, meaning that their cells can’t use insulin properly.
When cells can’t use insulin properly, the body’s demand for insulin increases. The pancreas makes more insulin to compensate. Extra insulin triggers the ovaries to produce more male hormones.

Obesity is a major cause of insulin resistance. Both obesity and insulin resistance can increase your risk for type 2 diabetes.

🌸 Inflammation:

Women with PCOS often have increased levels of inflammation in their body. Being overweight can also contribute to inflammation. Studies have linked excess inflammation to higher androgen levels.

PCOS is a problem with hormones that affects women during their childbearing years (ages 15 to 44).

📣Many women have PCOS but don’t know it. In one study, up to 70 percent of women with PCOS hadn’t been diagnosed.

✒The most common PCOS symptoms are:

🌸Irregular periods. A lack of ovulation prevents the uterine lining from shedding every month. Some women with PCOS get fewer than eight periods a year.
🌸Heavy bleeding. The uterine lining builds up for a longer period of time, so the periods you do get can be heavier than normal.
🌸Hair growth. More than 70 percent of women with this condition grow hair on their face and body — including on their back, belly, and chest (11). Excess hair growth is called hirsutism.
🌸Acne. Male hormones can make the skin oilier than usual and cause breakouts on areas like the face, chest, and upper back.
🌸Weight gain. Up to 80 percent of women with PCOS are overweight or obese (11).
Male-pattern baldness. Hair on the scalp gets thinner and fall out.
🌸Darkening of the skin. Dark patches of skin can form in body creases like those on the neck, in the groin, and under the breasts.
🌸Headaches. Hormone changes can trigger headaches in some women

🌸Brown rice is a whole grain. That means it contains all parts of the grain — including the fibrous bran, the nutritious germ and the carb-rich endosperm. White rice, on the other hand, has had the bran and germ removed, which are the most nutritious parts of the grain.
🌸Brown rice has more fiber and antioxidants, as well as a lot more important vitamins and minerals.
🌸White rice is mostly a source of "empty" calories and carbs with very few essential nutrients.
🌸Eating brown rice may help lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. White rice, on the other hand, may actually increase the risk of type 2 diabetes
🌻Because glycemic index of brown rice is 50 and. White rice is 89

🌸The bran of brown rice contains many powerful antioxidants
Studies show that due to their antioxidant levels, whole grains like brown rice can help prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes
🌸addition, a recent animal study suggests that eating white rice may decrease blood antioxidant levels in type 2 diabetics
🌸Eating brown rice instead of white may also significantly reduce weight, body mass index (BMI) and circumference of the waist and hips.
