Exposure to smog can worsen asthma symptoms, potentially leading to COPD. This condition can be assessed through a simple spirometry test, available at ULTH, UOL.

UCMD celebrated World Polycystic O***y Day by hosting a poster competition, organized by the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. The competition involved participants from 4th-year MBBS students, final-year MBBS students, and house officers. University of Lahore Teaching Hospital organized a 2-day workshop on Temporal Bone dissection. It was first of its kind in this university and attracted large number of ENT surgeons from cities across Pakistan.

Day 1 of the workshop demonstrated ffollowing procedures:
Cortical Mastoidectomy
Posterior Tympanotomy
Cochlear implant
Stapedectomy
Modified Radical Mastoidectomy
Facial nerve decompression

Day 2 comprised of hands-on training; each participant performed dissection under guidance of one supervisor.

UCMD celebrated World No To***co Day 2023 with a seminar arranged by the Department of Community Medicine. The theme of the seminar was "We need food, not to***co."

The seminar was followed by a skit prepared by dramatic club which educated our audience about to***co & it's side effects on human body.

There was a small quiz for students at the end of the seminar related to the theme of the seminar.

World Thalassemia Day is celebrated in the month of May every year since 1994. The purpose of this activity is to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about thalassemia.

The Department of Pediatric UCM at the UOL arranged a seminar on this occasion. International and national expert speakers were invited to deliver lectures on the clinical features, diagnosis, management, and prevention of thalassemia. Prof. Dr. Jovaria Mannan was the chief guest and speaker of the program. Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Saima Batool, Dr. Shabnam Bashir, Dr. Yasmeen Ehsan, and Dr. Michael Angastiniotis. Dr. Naveed served as the moderator of the program.

The Department of Radiology arranged a workshop “ABCs of Emergency CT Brain”. Prof. Dr Faiza Farooq (HOD Radiology) was the speaker and chief organizer. It was co-facilitated by Dr Sumiya and Dr Rabia.

In medical profession every second counts in emergency situations. The ability to quickly and accurately diagnose patients with neurological emergencies can mean the difference between life and death. The event aimed to provide attendees with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in interpreting emergency CT brain.
This was a well-attended workshop with 65 participants including consultants, registrars, PGs, house officers, and final-year students, expressing overwhelmingly positive feedback at the end of event.

MOU signing of Medical Electives program of University of King Edward Medical University Lahorel University Lahore/ Mayo Hospital Lahore took place on 9th May 2023 The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Mehmood Ayyaz (VC, KEMU) and Prof. Dr. Mahwish Arooj (Principal UCMD/Chairperson CHPL). Prof Javed Akram (Caretaker Health Minister), Prof Khalid M Gondal (VC, FJMU), Prof. Atif Kazmi (Dean IPMS, UOL) and Dr. Zahid Pervez (MS University of Lahore Teaching Hospital) were also present on the occasion. This MOU will facilitate the student internships in the form of electives both at Mayo Hospital and University Of Lahore constituent and affiliated hospitals.
