Getting creative around online medium. 🧑‍🎨✨

Targeting short phrases in narrative building while decorating cakes and trees. 🎂🌲

Adding the concept of categories. For instance, in cake the categories include cream, icing, topping and decorations. Then further working on subcategories for each separately.

Working on divergent approach to provide child with the descriptions necessary for narrative. 🗣️

While talking about the challenges faced by children with speech and language difficulties, it’s equally important to talk about the struggles the parents go through in this process. 🔄

The parents’ primary wish is to hear their child call them (mama or baba) and talk to them. But due to delays in speech and language, that wish often ends up as a dream for some.

Parents are often mocked and blamed when the child lags at developmental milestones. While it’s very upsetting for the parents, but they have to detach from the comments. As these merely reflect as a failure for the social etiquettes, not their parenting.

I acknowledge how difficult it must be for you. Your efforts and struggle are seen and appreciated. ✨👏

The most asked question by caregivers of children with speech delay in first session is, "When will the child start talking?" 🗣️

Language is basically a ladder and we have to go through each step to reach to the top. There's a series of targets to achieve before getting to expressive language and it comes under the term receptive language.
We can focus on receptive language by focusing on the above mentioned targets. It helps in building comprehension and vocabulary in child's mind before actually articulating it. Or the child might be articulating (read: repeating after you) but it's hard for him/her to comprehend. Focusing on reception can help a lot in comprehension as well as expression.
