Throwback: on May 11th, 2023, CHSR FMH held a webinar on USMLE guidance and the pathway to residency in the US. In the webinar titled “From Applicants to Residents”, we were joined by alumni of FMH who are now working in the US: Dr Mariam Tariq Awana (PGY1), Dr Abbas H Mallick (PGY 1), and Dr Muhammad Aadil (Outpatient Psychiatrist, Jacobi Medical Center, New York).

Join CHSR-FMH at the Journal Club Meeting to discuss the Diabetes Prevalence Survey of Pakistan!

We will be joined by Dr Hamayle Saeed, who is an alumnus of FMHCM&D, and is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Joslin Diabetes Centre, Harvard Medical School, US. The session will take place on Sunday, August 27th, 2023 at 8 PM to discuss this population survey published in the BMJ Open. With more than 18,000 participants, this was the biggest Pakistan-wide community-based survey on the prevalence of type 2 diabetes using glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) as the screening test.

September 26 is World Contraception Day, and since there is no better time to join this worldwide campaign on family planning, our society OBGYN-CHSR FMH presents you a workshop on contraceptive techniques. Approximately 90% of women of childbearing age use some form of contraception. Despite this, nearly 50% of pregnancies are unintentional. Of these, 43% result in live births, 13% in miscarriages, and 44% end in elective abortion. Weighing the risks and benefits of contraceptive methods, Dr. Samina Khurshid plans to generate awareness of the different kinds on contraceptive methods that women can use, along with their clinical implications. Most importantly, hands on practise of copper t and mirena IUD insertion will be observed.
