Telemedicine without proper training isn't healthcare. It's guesswork.

A misread cue. A missed symptom. A patient who felt unheard through a screen. The consequences are real, and they almost always fall on the most vulnerable patients: the ones who had no other option, but to consult virtually.

This is why formal, rigorous training in telemedicine isn't optional. It's a clinical responsibility.

I took that responsibility seriously, completing certified telehealth training through:

🎓 Stanford Medicine
🎓 University of Health Sciences Lahore

Because the skills that make a great in-person physician don't automatically translate to a screen. Reading body language differently. Building trust without physical presence. Knowing when a virtual consultation isn't enough.

These are learned skills. And the patients on the other end of that camera deserve a doctor who has learned them.

55 year old woman, from Jhang, with severe back pain and weakness in both legs, and found to have a tumour pressing on her spinal cord. She was operated successfully by Dr. Zaeem Sultan at Ali Ahmed Hospital, Jhang. The tumor was completely removed. She is now recovering well.

He is a dually trained spine surgeon, with neurospine training for degenerative spine with Dr. Spencer Harland and Dr. Jas Dhir, and for spinal oncology and complex spine, with Dr. Marcin Czyz (AO Spine UK President), and Dr. Alexandru Budu. He worked as orthopaedic spine registrar to Dr. Melvin Grainger, who specialises in complex spine and en-bloc resections, alongwith Dr. Andraay Leung, who specialises in cases dealing with degenerative and traumatic spine. Dr. Zaeem’s surgical training was at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with some part of it being in theatres of Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham as well. Zaeem trained as neuro-oncological surgeon as part of Prof. Colin Watts’ and Dr. Victoria Wykes’ team.

During his tenure at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Dr. Zaeem Sultan served as Senior Registrar, and for his dedication, he was awarded *Distinguished International Fellow*.

Dr. Zaeem is currently serving on the panel of Farooq Hospital DHA Lahore, and Buch International Hospital Multan, in addition to having clinics across Punjab, to cater to patients, who otherwise wouldn’t have expert neurosurgery care within reach.

As for his academic interests, Dr. Zaeem Sultan is Executive Committee Member of Pakistan Society of Neuro-oncology (PASNO), and is a core faculty of Pakistan Academy of Neurological Surgeons (PANS). He has been instrumental in organising SPIN courses to help improve the training standards of neurosurgery in Pakistan.
