On 22nd March 2022, The Provincial TB Control Program Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department Government of Punjab in collaboration with World Health Organization Pakistan organized World TB Days seminar in District Hafizabad. Seminar was Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Mr. Asif Raza. Dr Palitha Mahipala WR Pakistan along with other TB Dignitaries participated in the event. During his speech the WR praised Punjab Province for arranging World TB Day in the district. He reaffirmed WHO support to TB Control efforts in Punjab/ Pakistan. He highlighted that Pakistan being the 5th among 30 high TB burden countries in the world. WHO stands together with Department of Health Punjab and Provincial TB Program in its fight against TB. He appreciated the efforts of leadership of District administration in their efforts for health care delivery in the district.

A Grand seminar was conducted by Provincial TB Control Program Punjab in DG Khan Medical College to commemorate World Tb Day 2022 on 28th of March 2022. The event was chaired by the Mr. Liaqat Ali Chattha Commissioner DG Khan division. The seminar was being attended by medical students, medical teaching faculty, nurses and para medical staff. Mr. Liaqat Ali Chatha, Commissioner DG Khan Division committed to ensure district support in initiation of DRTB Decentralized services in DG Khan.

On World TB Day-2022, Provincial TB Control Program in collaboration with DOPASI Foundation and Stop TB illuminated the Iconic WAPDA House Lahore to create awareness around TB disease and brings the attention of the world to the theme of the World TB Day 2022- Invest to end TB, Save Lives. Commissioner Lahore Capt (R) Muhammad Usman Younis grace the event as Chief Guest to put the spotlight on TB under the world TB Day 2022 theme - ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives’ to convey the urgent need to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.

Decentralization of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Clinics is one of the major deliverable of PTP Punjab as per Provincial Strategic Plan 2020-23 for improving the detection and diagnosis of DR TB at the district level. This will reduce patient travel as well as enhanced convenience to avail the quality health care services at their door step in their respective district. Provincial TB Control Program in relation to commemoration of World TB Day 2022 also inaugurated two Decentralized DR TB Clinics at district Khanewal and Vehari. This is one of the major milestones of PTP achieved in relation to the World TB DAY 2022.

Provincial TB Control Program in collaboration of Mercy Corps Pakistan conducted a grand event of World TB Day-2022 on 29th of March 2022 at AVARI Lahore. Worthy Dignitaries from both public and private sector while addressing the events put the spotlight on TB under the world TB Day 2022 theme - ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives’ to convey the urgent need to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders. This is especially critical in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has put End TB progress at risk, and to ensure equitable access to prevention and care in line with WHO’s drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage

INVEST TO END TB, SAVE LIVES.
DESCRIPTION
Grand Level Public Health Symposium was conducted by Provincial TB Control Program Punjab in collaboration with Infection Prevention & Control Foundation and other partners at Governor House on 24th of March 2022. This was a mega event and various dignitaries including Director General Health Services Punjab Dr. Haroon Jahangir Khan, Federal Joint Secretary and national Coordinator Common Management Unit Mr. Bashir Khetran along with representatives from National TB control Program, different hospitals and implementing partners also participated in the Grand event. Panel discussion was also conducted with the experts at the event. The purpose of the Panel discussion is to spark conversation between group of experts from PTP, WHO and Partners so that the audience can learn from their discourse and interaction. The chief guest of the event Mrs. Ghulam Sarwer (Governor Punjab) also appreciated efforts of Provincial TB Control Program and also distributed shields to worthy dignitaries.
