Diaphragmatic hernia is a rare but serious condition in which abdominal organs such as the kidneys, intestines, or even transverse colon move upward into the chest cavity due to a defect in the diaphragm. This not only compresses the lungs but also causes breathing difficulties, digestive problems, and reduced physical activity.

In this case, Ms. Fozia had already undergone an unsuccessful surgery through the abdominal approach. She was extremely afraid and in severe discomfort as her kidneys and transverse colon had shifted into the chest cavity. She was unable to walk properly due to weakness and pressure on her lungs.

When she came to us, we performed a complex redo surgery through thoracic approach, successfully repairing the diaphragm and repositioning her abdominal organs back to their natural place.
