Located in the densely populated section of northern Lahore, Shalamar Hospital has been providing free and subsidized medical care to thousands of destitute patients since 1982. We have a special arrangement with House of Charity USA that provides total free medical treatment to children with cleft pallet, burns and other birth abnormalities. Under this programme, we have so far treated more than 5000 children and have sent about 50 very complicated cases to USA for treatment and rehabilitation. We call our regular donors ‘Friends of Shalamar’. They have supported us on every occasion with their valuable contributions and donations. Keeping the same philanthropic principals, we want to involve our children and youth in this noble cause. For this purpose, we have developed an introductory Puppet Show to introduce our new club ‘Young Friends of Shalamar’ in an interesting & fun manner. Apart from basic health education, information about seasonal diseases and their prevention tips, we have kept a number of fun activities for children with a yearlong programme. These activities are being prepared under the supervision of our experienced child specialists, nutritionists, psychologists and general physicians. We make sure every activity and event is filled with valuable information and encouraging learning steps. I am sure with your cooperation they will learn the importance of team work. They will learn to be caring, to respond to the problems of the less fortunate members of our society. A seed of philanthropy will be sown in their characters and with time, it will mature in a very positive way to make them better custodians of our country’s future.
