The Department of Community Medicine, King Edward Medical University, in collaboration with Friends of Mayo Hospital, successfully organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) course for O-Level and A-Level students as part of their summer internship program.
This initiative aimed to equip young students with essential life-saving skills and create awareness about emergency medical response. The session featured a comprehensive presentation and videos covering the latest principles and protocols of BLS, including the recognition of emergencies, performing high-quality CPR, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Following the theoretical component, students participated in a hands-on training session using CPR manikins. Under the guidance of trained instructors, they practiced chest compressions, rescue breathing, and other critical techniques in a simulated environment.
The course was met with enthusiastic participation, reflecting the students’ keen interest in learning practical skills that could one day help save lives. The Department of Community Medicine and Friends of Mayo Hospital remain committed to fostering health education and community engagement through such valuable initiatives.
