Over the past decades, Hijaz Hospital Trust has established itself as a centre of excellence providing comprehensive care free of cost to thousands of indigent patients. It was founded in 1979 by Haji Inam Elahi Asar and started merely as a dispensary with a goal to aid the poor of Pakistan in healthcare. Over the past 30 years, the hospital has progressed to a full-fledged, 170-bedded hospital. T
oday, the hospital consists of a five story building, which is adequately equipped with the latest machinery and advanced facilities, such as X-Ray, Ultra-sound, ECG, and Pathological Laboratory. Specialized services are provided in the fields of Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medicine, OB/GYN, ENT, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Orthopedics and Dialysis. Foreign-qualified and highly skilled specialists also serve at Hijaz Hospital. At present, fourteen specialists are regularly employed, and six honorary consultants of different specialties provide free medical facilities to the poor patients of the hospital. Besides specialists, a team of one hundred and thirty-eight medical and paramedical staff are on duty at the Hospital. Nintey percent of the patients that come to the hospital are at or below the poverty line. These patients are provided treatment free of charge.
