It's a matter of great honor to be invited to speak on AMBLYOPIA / LAZY EYE!

This is such a common problem in children and young adults. One eye has poor vision since birth. It remains undetected as we always keep both eyes open and never try seeing with one eye whilst the good eye is closed.
Poor vision in one eye produces SQUINT which keeps on getting worse without treatment.

I see such patients referred from all parts of this country as ophthalmologists frequently perform surgery to straighten such an eye. But without good vision, a LAZY EYE CANNOT STAY STRAIGHT!

A Squinting eye needs improving it's vision first. As the vision improves, Squint corrects itself without the need for surgery if this treatment is done early at a younger age.

Please do not opt for squint surgery without restoring vision in that eye as Amblyopia is FULLY TREATABLE AT ANY AGE.

Please spread this message far and wide so that such patients can have two eyes with perfect vision.

Best wishes

PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE is TRUE PATRIOTISM; not singing songs of praise for your country or raising slogans against your enemy!

Wherever you are, whatever work you are doing, please ask yourself for a moment:

"-Are you doing your job to the best of your ability?
- Are you learning at least one new thing daily that is going to help you in your career?
- Are you trying to make your environment better?
- Are you trying to help others around you?"
- As a doctor, when the patient is in front of you, do you think about what's the best option for that patient?, can you really help him/her? Should you refer to your colleague if you can't understand the problem? OR ALL you think about is HOW MUCH MONEY I CAN MAKE From that patient?"

If you are not doing any of the above, but only living for yourself, how can you call yourself a true Patriot?

Is it Harmful to keep an LED screen TV in Bedrooms?
Experts agree on the following harmful effects of having LED screens in bedrooms:

1: They emit Electromagnetic radiation: Although it's a small amount, it causes harm to the eyes and brain if the TV screen size is large and viewing distance is close.
The radiation continues unless the power is turned off and the tv plug is taken out.

2: LED screens emit BLUE LIGHT WAVES: As the Tv is mostly watched at night, blue light BLOCKS Melatonin secretion from the brain, thus interfering with inducing sleep.
This is particularly harmful in children as their body and brain growth occurs during sleep.
Lack of undisturbed sleep not only seriously affects their physical and mental development, but also results in progression of Myopia. So their eye glasses number increases.

3: Watching TV while lying in bed induces squinting eyes and astigmatism.

4:TV in the bedroom encourages longer screen time, encouraging sedentary behavior, food binges, and consequently diabetes and heart disease.

5: Watching television in the dark or dim bedroom light results in eye strain and discomfort.

Therefore a humble request to the parents to please:
- Move the TVs out of your bedrooms.
-Do not buy large LED screens for small rooms as all the harmful effects are multiplied.
- Do not allow children to watch TV in the dark or dim light.
- Do not allow them to watch around their sleep time.
- Minimize the screen time.

*BAN DIGITAL SCREENS for CHILDREN!

A very bold step initiated by Sweden government.*
They have kicked out the digital classroom and restored the book, pencil and notebook in the teaching and learning program again.
Sweden says that they have the scientific evidence that Education through technology doesn't make the pupils better learners.

"Protect Your Eyes Against SMOG"

The level of smog had risen in Lahore's atmosphere to dangerously high levels.

Smog contains chemical particles that are toxic to the eyes as well as the nose, throat and the lungs as well as bacteria and viruses.

One must take the following precautions to Protect Your Eyes:

1: Smog is of the highest level in the morning. Therefore wear glasses ( plain or sunglasses) when going outdoors.

2: Wash your eyes once you reach home, office, or the school.

3: Tap water is not safe for washing eyes as this also contains high levels of chemicals. Therefore, use lubricant eyedrops that are readily available at the pharmacy.

4: People who have seasonal eye allergies, must start mast-cell stabilizer eye drops once daily for the next 4-5 months. Otherwise the ocular allergy will get worse and will need much stronger medicines. Your ophthalmologist should prescribe you these eyedrops.

5: Please do not use Rose water for washing/cleaning eyes as this contains steroids. Smog is going to continue for 3-4 months. You cannot use Rose water for that long. Steroids cause Glaucoma.

6: Using Icepacks in case of irritated red eyes are soothing to the eyes and relieve eye or lid swelling and redness.

Please share this post with your friends and colleagues.
