SECURING DIGNITY
Exploring Sustainable Income Solutions for Daily Wage Senior Citizens in Pakistan- Park Lane Hotel Lahore.

with the support of FAID (فائد)

Muhammad Bilal Abdulhayi from FAID Pakistan noted that 29% of individuals aged 60 and above remain active in Pakistan’s labor force (Census 2023). Despite their lifelong contributions to infrastructure, services, and industry, many older workers face acute income insecurity due to the lack of a structured pension or social safety net.
He also emphasized that while senior citizens' legislation has been enacted in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad, Punjab still lacks a legal framework to address the specific needs and rights of its aging population.
Syed Sajjad Hussain from FAID Pakistan emphasized the dire need for sustainable, community-driven alternatives to support income security in later life—solutions that promote dignity without dependency, especially for informal sector workers.
The seminar brought together a panel of distinguished speakers who explored practical, financially viable paths forward:
Mr. Zahid Islam, CEO, Sangat Development Foundation
Ms. Sumaira Faheem, Incharge, Old Age Home, SWD Punjab
Mr. Mahar Safdar Ali, Executive Member, Bonded Labor Liberation Front
Mr. Rashid Ahmad, Company Secretary, RCDP
Mr. Musharaf Khan, Manager Innovation & Product Development, RCDP
