Complications of contact lenses
There are real sight-threatening dangers associated with wearing contacts too long that you need to know about!
So what happens when you wear contact lenses?
The CONTACT LENSES inhibits the process of oxygenation of cornea as cornea has no blood supply, longer a contact is worn, the less oxygen the eye receives. This is because the way the cornea is designed; it must receive oxygen directly from the air
Symptoms of side effects of contact lenses!
1. Eye pain
2. Blurred vision
3. Photophobia (light sensitivity)
4. Red eye
5. Excessive tearing
6. Overgrowth of surrounding blood vessels
7. Eye ulcer (Acanthamoeba keratitis)
8. Irritated eyes
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms from contact lens wear, Dr. Awan recommends patients visit immediately. However, you are usually advised to stop wearing contacts.
