Li 4, also known as Hegu or Union Valley, is a powerful acupuncture point located on the back of the hand, between the thumb and index finger.
It's a commonly used point for pain relief, particularly headaches, toothaches, and menstrual cramps, and is also known for its ability to regulate the flow of qi and promote overall well-being.
Location:
Find the highest spot of the muscle bulge between the thumb and index finger when they are brought together.
LI4 is located on the dorsum (back) of the hand, between the first and second metacarpal bones.
It's closer to the radial (thumb) side of the second metacarpal bone.
Benefits and Uses:
1.Pain Relief:
LI4 is widely used for headaches, toothaches, neck pain, and menstrual cramps.
2.Regulating Qi:
TCM theory suggests that stimulating LI4 can help regulate the flow of qi (vital energy) throughout the body.
3.Head and Face:
LI4 is used for conditions like headaches, toothaches, dizziness, congestion, and facial paralysis.
4.Other Conditions:
LI4 is also used for digestive issues, skin problems, and can help regulate bowel movements.
5.Regulating Immunity and Blood Circulation:
Some studies suggest LI4 may be beneficial for boosting immunity and improving blood circulation.
