Session on Assesment and Beneficiaries Identification and Registration During Disaster– PRCS Youth Development Boot Camp 2025
As part of ongoing Youth Development Boot Camp 2025, the Youth & Volunteer Department, PRCS Punjab Branch conducted a comprehensive session on Assessment and Beneficiary Identification, and Registration During Disaster on June 18, 2025, at Lady Emerson Hall, PHQ Punjab Branch. A total of 37 participants (9 males and 28 females) took part in the session.
Facilitated by Mudassar Habib Jami, Y&V Officer Punjab, the session focused on how emergency needs assessments are conducted to identify priorities such as health, food, and shelter. Volunteers learned about the phases of Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis—general and detailed—including initial, rapid, and in-depth assessments. Various information-gathering techniques such as observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and questionnaires were discussed, along with the step-by-step process: information collection, analysis, and determining response options.
Assistant Y&V Officer, Zeeshan Asfaq shared real-life challenges PRCS has encountered during assessments and distributions, offering participants a grounded understanding of field realities. The session also covered types of distribution—direct, indirect, and donor-based—and introduced volunteers to essential tools like Open Data Kit (ODK), Mega V, and Red Rose.
To solidify their understanding, participants took part in a mock distribution drill where they role-played as community members, volunteers, and field staff, applying their knowledge in a simulated emergency relief scenario.
At the end Acting Secretary, PRCS Punjab, Rao Zaka ur Rehman, visited the session to encourage and appreciate the efforts of Boot Camp 2025 and the volunteers. He also emphasized that volunteers are the backbone of PRCS, and thus play important role in disaster management and providing help to community.
