World Malaria Day is celebrated to raise awareness about the global burden of malaria and promote efforts to control and eradicate the disease.
Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite and is a major public health problem in many parts of the world, especially in underdeveloped countries.
World Malaria Day also aims to mobilize resources and build partnerships to support the implementation of malaria prevention and control strategies, including the use of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, and antimalarial drugs.
World Malaria Day 2023 is being marked under the theme “Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement”.
