The 4th Collaborative Academic Session was successfully hosted by the Department of Psychiatry at Lahore General Hospital, bringing together postgraduate residents and examiners from various medical institutes across Lahore for an engaging and intellectually enriching academic exchange.

The session featured comprehensive discussions on some of the most challenging and clinically significant areas in psychiatry, including gender dysphoria, sexual dysfunction, and the management of aggressive patients. The interactive scholarly environment encouraged critical thinking, evidence-based learning, and multidisciplinary dialogue among participants.

An engaging and thought-provoking session on “Teaching Excellence: From Lectures to Artificial Intelligence” was organized under the Nursing Faculty Development Program at the College of Nursing, Lahore General Hospital / Ameer-ud-Din Medical College. The workshop brought together nursing educators and academic leaders to explore modern teaching methodologies, digital learning approaches, and the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in nursing education.

Patron-in-Chief, Worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, emphasized that the future of healthcare education depends upon empowering teachers with innovative skills, critical thinking, and technological adaptability. He shared that nursing educators are not only shaping competent professionals but are also building the foundation of compassionate and evidence-based healthcare. He further stated that integrating Artificial Intelligence with medical and nursing education can enhance learning experiences, strengthen clinical decision-making, and prepare healthcare professionals for future challenges.

Guest Lecture on Pulmonary Tuberculosis at Lahore General HospitalLahore General Hospital

A highly informative guest lecture on Pulmonary Tuberculosis was delivered today by the renowned senior pediatrician Professor Yaqoob Qazi at Lahore General Hospital. The session was attended by a large number of pediatric residents, house officers, postgraduate trainees, and faculty members.The event was graced by Professor Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI / AMC, Vice Principal Professor Nudrat Suhail, and faculty members of the Department of Pediatrics.

The lecture included insightful discussions on the diagnosis and management of Pediatric Pulmonary Tuberculosis, followed by an interactive Q&A session. The participants greatly benefited from the vast clinical experience and academic expertise of Professor Yaqoob Qazi.
At the conclusion of the session, a souvenir was presented to Professor Yaqoob Qazi by the Principal in recognition of his valuable academic contributions.

The 16th Academic Council Meeting of Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) / Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) / Lahore General Hospital (LGH), Lahore, was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH, to review the recent PMDC visit and discuss preparations for upcoming postgraduate inspections and academic activities.

The meeting was attended by faculty members from Clinical and Basic Sciences departments, where detailed deliberations were carried out regarding institutional compliance, academic standards, postgraduate training requirements, faculty preparedness, and further strengthening of medical education and healthcare services at PGMI/AMC/LGH.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal appreciated the collective efforts of all departments during the PMDC visit and emphasized the importance of teamwork, academic discipline, institutional coordination, and continuous quality improvement to ensure excellence in postgraduate medical education and patient care. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining the highest professional and academic standards in line with PMDC requirements and future institutional goals.
