Intentional adulteration or accidental contamination of glycerin, propylene glycol or sorbitol with Diethylene Glycol (DEG) or Ethylene Glycol (EG) poses a severe toxicological hazard in liquid medicines. Both DEG and EG are metabolized to toxic compounds that cause central nervous system depression, cardiac failure, and acute renal injury.

Based on WHO Alert No.6/2022 and WHO Global Consultation on DEG/EG Prevention (2023), it caused over 300 child deaths due due to contaminated syrups globally, including incidents in Gambia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan linked to DEG/EG in excipients. In 2024, DRAP recalled pediatric syrups after detecting EG levels 8–13 times above the 0.1% limit. WHO identified Pakistani-manufactured syrups containing EG up to 0.82%. Fraudulently labeled industrial-grade glycols were also found.

PFAS are "forever chemicals" used in textiles for water/oil repellent properties, but their environmental persistence has triggered global regulatory crackdowns directly impacting textile manufacturers and exporters.

𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: US AFIRM RSL v10 limits (≤50 ppm TOF) effective April 2025, EU PFHxA restriction in textiles starting October 2026, Japan bans 138 PFAS January 2025, with broader EU PFAS ban decision expected 2025.

𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Companies must inventory all PFAS in products and supply chains, implement sub-ppb testing using advanced methods like LC-MS/MS, source PFAS-free water repellents and finishes, and transition to silicone or bio-based alternatives. Suppliers must declare and certify PFAS-free materials while companies face increased liability exposure for environmental cleanup costs.

Every plastic bag we use comes at a cost, to the planet, to the lives we share it with.
Today serves as a powerful reminder of the devastating impact single-use plastic bags have on our environment, particularly our oceans. Countless plastic bags find their way into marine ecosystems each year, where they drift like jellyfish—and that’s exactly the problem. When a turtle mistakes a plastic bag for food, the result can be fatal. Others get trapped and can't swim or surface for air.

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁: 𝗣𝗙𝗛𝘅𝗔 𝗕𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗨 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗖𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
The countdown has begun. From October 2026, the European Union will ban PFHxA and related substances in textiles, leather, paper, and cosmetics under REACH Annex XVII.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?
PFHxA is a short-chain PFAS commonly used as a “safer” replacement for banned long-chain fluorochemicals like PFOA. It’s still found in many water-repellent, stain-resistant, and technical textile finishes—especially in outdoor wear, uniforms, upholstery, and synthetic leather.

This upcoming ban will:
🔹Prohibit intentional use of PFHxA, its salts, and precursors
🔹Apply to both finished goods and treated materials
🔹Enforce trace limits in parts-per-billion (ppb) range
🔹Impact all imports into the EU, including from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and beyond
