amid so many speculations about budget dedicated for defence, luxurious life style of officers and so many myths. without giving minute details let me clarify few misconceptions which are being propagated by those who work on agendas and pollute minds of common man while creating rift between army and Thier origin (civilian).
1. Not more than 10 % officers reach the rank of brigadier that is BPS 20. ratio as compared to civil services is very low where about 70 % officers reach this pay scale.
2. About 2% officers becomes Major Gen and this % further reduced to decimal points for Lt Gen. Those who rise to this rank are just based on personal brilliance and dedication to profession. It has nothing to do with background, as generally perceive son of general will become one. Not that sons of civ and lower army ranks have got to COAS rank.
3. All army officers pay their utility bills no exception whatsoever.
4. If official residence is alloted, house rent is deducted.
5. None less than Brig is Auth with official vehicle and use of that is restricted.
5. Officers become member of Army housing scheme from very initial days, dedicated amount deducted from their pay bills through out their service and on retirement large chunk of their pension (commute) has to be paid to get that 3 bed apartment. No more independent house.
6. DHA plot as service benifit is alloted to good discipline army offrs, JCOs, shuhda families. Less shuda families others have to pay the cost of land in installments even after retirement. Only developmental charges are waived off as benifit.
7. Agricultural land is not alloted to all officers but given to families of shuhda, and officers/ soldiers who got major disability like amputation of limbs during operations. And few senior officers as recognition of their services.
8. AWT is commercial organisation which is self governing and generate funds thorough various business and deposit tax in govt treasury. This was raised to re-employ the 90 % of officers who got Retired at the age bracket of 44-49 yrs unlike civil employees 60 yrs age limit and job is contract based for 3 yrs Only.
9. Officers are not FA pass Only. They get degree of BS from NUST after 2 yrs of passing out. This BS program is 4 yes duration that is divided in 2 Halfs. 2 yrs academic studies at PMA and 2 years after PMA. Engineer, signals, EME Officers are engineering degree holder from NUST. Other then various inland and foreign courses staff college qualified officers have degree of MS from NDU, few officers those who are likely to be Gen officer went through warcourse n selected one complete their PhD in strategic studies. Otherwise FA pass officers can't behave and talk the way most of the army officers conduct.
10. There is nothing like "bloody civilian" known to Army as 90 of officers/ soldiers belong to pure civil background and rest 10% also have lot of relatives and friends in civil, one can't abuse his own people.
11. Few exceptions are always there who behave in a way that is totally unacceptable and below the dignity level but for them system is in placed and they are penalised accordingly but due to inward nature of institute it doesn't get public.
12. Army can't be isolated from rest of the society it belongs to roots of this land with same issues/ problems faced by all others.
13. Difference is management and adherence to procedures, cantonments are green and beautiful as lot of effort goes in whereas in civil municipal corporation are supposed to do the same job but due to obvious reasons they don't deliver that much.
14. Defense budget seems very large but it has reasons as to have credible deterrence you need military equipment that cost money, but still defense budget of Pak is 7 times less than its adversary, per capita expenditure on soldier is amongst the lowest across the globe.
15. At the end this army belongs to this beautiful land that is like mother to all of us. Each one of us is trying to contribute towards its better and secure tomorrow where our next generations prosper and live a peaceful Life.
16. No profession is better than any other profession, no one has right to look down other.
17. Unity is strength, we are like punch when together, no army can ever win if not supported by public and their moral support.
18. Army can't defend this land at their own if not sure about the support from this brave nation.
19. Please don't get prey to those who want to split us. Litmus test to identify these is manipulation of facts figures propagation of wrong comparisons, associating negativity with security forces,
20. We as nation need to stand high together against all odds. We are much better and can perform much better together.
