SGH

SGH A nutrition & wellness company run by a free spirited couple, a certified Dietetic & an Artisan Agri She always has felt her M.Phil.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Saba Gul Hasan holds a passionate belief about being mindful about our bodies by keeping in touch with nature. Her quest for real nutrition over a span of 10 years is filled with experiences that have shaped her today. degree in Food Sciences and Human Nutrition gave her an amazing ¬-starting point but the numerous opportunities that shaped her understanding of our body’s connec

tion with food, have been true teachers. Passionate about sports nutrition she worked at various fitness studios; curious about medical nutrition she practiced as a dietitian in hospitals, eventually finding her true calling in her very own venture. She founded SGH out of a desperate need to set the record straight. With a handful of clients, her practice eventually grew from nutrition services to designing products. She dived into gluten free baking for a client who had a wheat allergy and needed a birthday cake. Searching for more answers, she visited a farmer’s market where she came across Organic Culture’s stall, selling gluten free baked goods. Their delectable apple pie and a conversation with the owner, Umar, inspired her to seek help in transforming her terrace into a terrace garden. This chance encounter introduced her to the world of medicinal herbs, organic growing and of course her future husband. ABOUT THE COFOUNDER

Muhammad Umar Khan stepped out of the corporate world in 2009 purely out of desperate need to find a deeper meaning to life. He started reconnecting with his ancestral roots in agriculture and initially started with just a handful of tomato plants. Studying them closely made him edge towards exploring fresh horizons. He soon branched out into organic urban farming, growing culinary and medicinal herbs along with salad plants in more than 400 pots on his 2000 sq.ft rooftop in Lahore. Almost 80% of those plants were grown from heirloom USDA organic seeds, containing varieties not native to Pakistan.

After 4 years of learning, experimenting and constant growth he started a small venture called Organic Culture. From gluten free edibles and herb infused oils, it gathered a community of similar minds and a family of passionate people who believed in Umar’s vision. In 2014, his work and a moment of pure serendipity brought him face to face with his future wife who was on the verge of starting her very own venture. Over the past few years, Organic Culture merged into SGH, forming the foundations of this growing nutrition and wellness company. SGH today encompasses medical nutrition therapy branching into homeopathy and naturopathy. It also stands for truthful nutrition products and the best part is they make everything themselves. Together they have healed a community of lovely people, guided and mentored those looking for answers to their health.

“We always want to be in connection with what we produce and grow. For us SGH is not a business but a way of living a life free of consumerism, commercialism and exploiting the earth. For people like you, we find solutions to common but sometimes complicated problems. SGH is we and we preach what we practice. Always be aware of yourself, reconnect with nature, and be health-wise. Have questions or stuck with a health dilemma? We are always a call or message away.”

is a magical place led by Nazli who is just as fairy-like as the place itself!

Gulmohar is based on the Waldorf philosophy of cultivating the child's mind, body and spirit via a creative imaginative approach. We visited their open house recently and were pleasantly surprised to meet the amazing team over a cup of green tea, freshly baked biscuits and a felt shoe stitching project.

We were hooked! My inner child felt right at home. After 2 hours of song, wholesome conversation, a tour of the place and my felt shoe all stitched up for Maya (my daughter), Gulmohar had my heart.

The pictures don't do justice to the place but I hope I have kindled a curiosity in you to go visit, take your child and immerse yourself in the Waldorf way of life.

Ending the year with a sleep-deprived self and a heart full of gratitude, alhamdolillah.

Reflecting, 2023 gave me so much more than I asked for. Started the year with my yoga teacher training and finding out I was expecting. With a smooth pregnancy, I finished my YTT and became a certified teacher in March. Alhamdulillah!

Learned to recognize the small wins, the daily victories, sparks of joy, and thankfulness. This year I taught myself to live in the present and to not fret about the future or dwell in the past. Things that I can't control are not for me to think about.

Became a mom to a beautiful baby girl and drowned in the larger-than-life emotions that came with it. 💛
Postpartum was hard and the unexpected stress, constantly doubting my decisions, and feeling wasted got the better of me.

Stepping into 2024 with humbleness, gratitude and the will to make a difference no matter how small. We thank you all for being with us on this journey so far. 🌻

Here is why Labour of Love is not your typical mother's group:

1. I don't intend on adding members just for numbers. Quality of friendship and the interactions we have is more important.

2. The reason behind starting this is simply to support each other as mothers and celebrate being a woman/mother which we often forget how amazing that is.

3. We have zero tolerance for gossiping, backbiting, or dimming someone's light.

4. Friendships and genuine connection is what LOL is about. Silent members are removed.

5. This is not a venting platform to diss your inlaws or your husband. We ain't your therapist.

6. LOL holds events to bring you out of your houses and comfort zones to bond with your kids and find your center.

7. It is completely free! No membership, no hidden agenda. Yes, we do charge for professional workshops and events where organizational costs come in.

8. Expect to be accepted as you are. Being a facilitator, I make it a point that the environment of our discussions and meetings is a judgment-free zone.

9. Children are welcome to attend every event and you are allowed to bring help.

10. We have virtual and in person meetings for mothers outside of Lahore and Pakistan.

Labour of Love's first mothers' meet & greet was a big success!

Mothers from around Lahore had a wholesome conversation centered around motherhood and the current challenges they are facing.

Important dates for virtual and in person meetings were finalised, topics for workshops and awareness sessions were discussed and every mom pitched in as to what we can add to LOL's agenda.

Special thanks to for giving us the space and , and for the discount vouchers.

As simple as it seems, fertility, a healthy menstrual cycle and conception are all very complicated matters. There is no one pill to fix them all. In my holistic approach to dietitics and nutrition I first look at the root cause itself rather than letting a doctor put a bandaid on it.

I've had my fair share of wrong diagnosis, late diagnosis, wrong medical treatments and in the end I gave it all up.

For most women having a perfectly functioning reproductive system is all about having a baby. One gynecologist colleague of mine very nonchalantly said that no woman is bothered about fixing their PCOs or other female health issues, rather they just want to have babies and that is what we help them with.

As much as I was shocked I disagree. Your system is not JUST a baby maker. It also regulates your hormones which in turn are responsible for so many things like your metabolism, mood, thyroid health, healthy skin and hair, bone health and what not.

Give your body a chance to heal first before expecting it to produce a baby. It deserves your love and care.

I was in my second trimester when I finished my Yoga Teacher Training. I wasn't allowed to do specific asanas and I felt that I was missing out on learning all that I could from this training.

Now that I have my baby girl with me, I am slowly getting back on track and every day feels like a challenge. Another thing I find challenging is finding like minded souls who are mothers and might be looking for the same answers as I am.

Here is where, Labour of Love comes in, a support group offering a safe space to mothers, mothers to be and bereaved mothers. The wait is over and I'll be sending all mamas on my wait list an invite to join our WhatsApp group and to our first official meet up in Lahore!

As mothers, pregnancy, child birth and postpartam recovery is assumed to be something women can easily go through, should go through and know how to.

Each mother is different and so will be their journey. All the more reason to celebrate the process as and not tone down its magic. It IS a big deal, it IS a miracle and yes it does CHANGE every women.

Seldom do we find souls who have the same journey as ours, who can relate to us and offer their support unconditionally.

Why am I starting a mother's support group?

No one tells you about how life changes after you give birth.

No one tells you about the sleepless nights, changed routine, dark circles, mood swings, fatigue, mom rage, and feeling lost. Even if you do have support you sometimes just want to step out, look at a different face, and just have a nice conversation.

Also, no one tells you about the beauty of motherhood. The different kind of love you suddenly feel for a round little lump of cuteness that snuggles up to your chest and falls asleep when they hear your heartbeat. No one expresses how amazing being a mama can be, how fu***ng badass birthing is, and how all mothers are goddesses for going through it and coming out seemingly normal. No, we come out as changed women, a whole new soul, reborn and raw.

Nothing is discussed in our society, it is automatically assumed that every woman will and should give birth. Heck it's something every woman does so it should come to us naturally?

There are so many unsaid words, unexpressed emotions, and a lack of a space where one can sit and have a meaningful conversation about everything about motherhood. That's where my support group comes in.

If you are a mom to be or a mom struggling to find answers, DM me to join the tribe!

Our Story

SGH was founded in February 2014 by Saba Gul Hasan, a dietitian by profession holding a M.phil degree in the field of Food Sciences and Human Nutrition. Our team is passionate about chemical free food, constantly experimenting & producing healthy substitutes to commercial brands and are strong advocates of GMO free, natural food. Bringing Pakistanis back to basics with their products, educational services and interpersonal sessions. Practicing organic growing, our team adopts the best methods to preserve the freshness and nutritional value of medicinal herbs which are later used in various teas provided to our clients and customers. We pride ourselves in supporting local farmers and source the best ingredients from Hunza and Skardu for our Cinnavanilla Granola and Peanut Butter. SGH also provides its customers with an array of expert services and professional solutions regarding health and nutrition. With our online and in person consultations, training programs and medical therapies we aim to change habits rather than provide our clients with short terms solutions to health goals.
