Following the Post-ER presentation by Dr. Saeed and the Mortality presentation by Dr. Zarnab, the Change of Reins ceremony was formally conducted.
The outgoing Registrar, Dr. Ihsan, was accorded a warm farewell in recognition of his dedicated service and the successful completion of his tenure. The incoming Registrars, Dr. Hassan Bin Aziz and Dr. Nabeel Ahmad were formally welcomed to their new roles.
We extend our sincere best wishes to them for a productive and successful tenure ahead. The ceremony was attended by all senior faculty members of NSW, making the occasion both memorable and significant.

As part of the routine academic activities at the north surgery ward, a comprehensive post-ER presentation and long case presentation was conducted in the presence of Prof Dr Ameer Afzal, who shared valuable insights and guidance. The academic round was followed by structured ward rounds with interactive bedside discussion and teaching. Finally, the day was concluded with MDT meeting, attended by team of surgical oncologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, pathologist and thoracic surgeon. Hence, a highly productive learning session by team of Associate and Assistant Professors, Senior registrars and Post graduate residents under the kind supervision and guidance of Prof Dr Ameer Afzal.

A live workshop on three-stage esophagectomy was conducted under the kind supervision of Professor Ameer Afzal. Esteemed guest Professor Ali Raza Khan, the thoracic surgeon was warmly wellcomed. The session began with a comprehensive preoperative discussion on esophagectomy, carried out in a healthy and interactive academic environment, allowing participants to thoroughly understand the indications, planning, and surgical strategy.

The thoracic phase of the procedure was expertly performed by Professor Ali Raza, followed by the abdominal and cervical phases, skillfully carried out by Dr. Ali Akbar and Dr. Hafiz asif, with continuous intraoperative teaching and emphasis on surgical precision and teamwork. The workshop was attended by all faculty members of the North Surgery Ward, reflecting strong departmental participation and academic commitment.

The workshop concluded on a gracious note with the presentation of shields to the guests and participants, in recognition of their valuable contribution. Overall, the session was a highly enriching academic experience, highlighting surgical excellence, collaboration, and dedication to teaching.

An enriching academic session unfolded today with a focused post-ER presentation by Dr. Nabeel. This was followed by an engaging presentation on surgical ergonomics by Dr. Saeed, emphasizing the importance of posture, precision, and surgeon well-being in modern surgical practice. The session was further elevated by the Professor Ameer Afzal's golden words of wisdom, adding depth, experience, and invaluable learning points to the discussion. Professor’s gracious sense of humor created a relaxed and intellectually stimulating learning environment. The session was attended by three Assistant Professors: Dr Balakh Sher Zaman, Dr Hafiz Asif Maqbool, Dr Noor ul Ain Mujahid.

The day concluded with a detailed ward round, translating academic learning into bedside teaching and reinforcing patient-centered care through thoughtful discussion and mentorship.

An insightful workshop at the North Surgery Ward on 'use of stapling devices in surgery' , graced by Chief Guest Prof. Asghar Naqi.
With invaluable guidance from Prof. Ameer Afzal, and excellent facilitation by Prof. Rana sohail, Associate Prof Dr. Ali Akbar, Assistant prof Dr Balakh Sher Zaman and Assistant Prof. Dr. Noor-ul-Ain.

We are thankful to Prof Ameer Afzal for a commendable effort toward continuous surgical education and giving us opportunity for organizing a well-structured session that enhanced both understanding and practical insight on use of surgical staplers.

After hands-on practice on linear stapler, circular stapler, laparoscopic/endoscopic stapler and skin stapler, certificates were awarded to the participants.
