A thoracic lumbar orthosis (TLO) is a custom-made brace that provides support and stability to the thoracic and lumbar spine. It's a rigid or semi-rigid device that:
- Extends from the mid-thoracic region (around T6 or T7) to the lumbar region (around L2 or L3)
- Circumferentially surrounds the torso, providing 360-degree support
- Typically has a front and back panel, connected by straps or hinges
- May have additional features, such as:
- Padding or lining for comfort
- Adjustable straps for a secure fit
- Moulded or contoured sections for customized support
A TLO is usually made from materials like:
- Plastic (polypropylene or polyethylene)
