TYPE 5 DIABETES
Type 5 diabetes, officially recognized as malnutrition-related diabetes or Severe Insulin-Deficient Diabetes (SIDD), is a distinct form of diabetes caused by chronic undernutrition, particularly during childhood or adolescence. It's different from both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and is characterized by severe insulin deficiency rather than insulin resistance. The condition is believed to arise from impaired pancreatic development due to long-term nutrient deficiencies, leading to a smaller pancreas and fewer insulin-producing cells.
